The Chicagoland Chapter of iNACHI has obtained a great program for our next meeting (July 17th).
Ed Reeves – Engineering Manager, Icynene, holds a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He is a Professional Enginer with over 27 years of Building Science experience. He has worked with other insulation companies for over 15 years, predominately fiberglass insulation. He has also worked with consulting engineering firms in the building science field. Ed works at Icynene where he oversees all technical aspects of the product and field application. He handles the forensics and works to provide solutions to existing building performance problems. He is an information resource working with Architects and Engineers, designers and builders providing recommendations regarding the use of Icynene®. The licensed Icynene Dealer network uses this service to provide design recommendations to their clients. He provides presentations at the Dealer meetings to explain the latest developments, experience and test results. He uses Design Notes and Auto-CAD details to assist designers on the proper use of the insulation in their designs. REM/Design energy performance analyses and WUFI moisture analysis programs are two of the evaluations conducted to support design recommendations. Ed is involved in field testing and works along with independent third party consultants to develop performance test data. In one project last year he worked with Building Science Consulting and developed a joint paper on the performance of an insulated cathedral ceiling system. This paper was approved by ASHRAE and was presented at the Buildings X Conference, held in Clearwater Florida last year. This would be a great meeting to bring any investor clients, contractor friends and other Inspectors to. Mr. Reeves will cover all the latest research and building science techniques with regards to insulation.
