Outfielders had it made. They could smoke funny stuff while the batter was scraping mud from his shoes.

"Re: Help! I'm being forced to watch baseball here in CO. What's with all the spitting?"

Baseball has many ploys used to keep the opposing side off balance.

The player walks to the plate with his bat in hand, grabs his crotch and spits. After the pitch he returns to the plate, grabs his crotch and spits.

This routine continues for a few more pitches--and then, just to confuse the other team, the batter will spit and grab his crotch.

The batter's teammates in the dugout watch for the confused looks on the opponents faces and then they bend over laughing.

Isn't baseball a fun game? (Albeit, a mysteriously intriguing and action-packed 3 hours. **yaawwn**)

Jeff,

16'' Wells Park summer league. Ernie Banks was our marketing director for our bank 2-3 years and played on our team. I played the same infield as good ole Ernie. He could hit the softball a mile. We would all go out afterwards and drink beer until the wee hours (Monday night) . Ernie was like family. I was only 23 then and life was about fun and more fun. Now it's work and sleep.

Will, it could be a whole hell of a lot worse.............. you guys were never subjected to the abject tedium of a 5 day test (Cricket)

Kinda like watching paint dry, but less exciting

Will,
As you watched the 2005 White Sox become World Series Champs, that was your South Side years invading your body. Since you are in Skokie, are you now a Cubs fan or no fan at all?
