Help test out a new server

Hey folks,

We're moving parts of NACHI.ORG to a new, faster server. I'd love your help testing it out. The following instructions will tell your computer to view NACHI.ORG from the new server. Please only try this if you are comfortable with computers:

These instructions are for Windows XP:

1. Go to the Start Menu and choose "Run..."
2. Copy and paste the following into the box that pops up: "%systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts"
3. In the "Open With" window, choose "Notepad"
4. Copy and paste the following onto the last line of the file that opens: "76.12.4.36 nachi.org www.nachi.org" (without the quotes)
5. Save the file
6. Close and re-open your web browser

Windows Vista is a little different:

1. Go to the Start Menu, then "All Programs," then "Accessories"
2. Right-click "Notepad" and select "open as Administrator."
3. From Notepad, choose "File" and then "Open"
4. In the "Open" window, navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
5. Choose to open the file called "hosts" in that folder
6. Follow steps 4+ in the Windows XP instructions

Finally, in OS X:

1. Open the Terminal (from Appliations/Utilities)
2. Type "sudo pico /etc/hosts" and hit enter
3. Type in your password
4. Add the same "76.12.4.36..." line to the bottom of the file (it's all command line, so you have to navigate the file with your arrow keys)
5. Enter Ctrl+X
6. Hit "Y" to save the file
7. Restart your browser

Now when you go to http://www.nachi.org you should be viewing the site from the new server. You can test this by going to http://www.nachi.org/test-2008.html (that page will tell you which server you're using.

When you're done, follow the same steps above, but remove the "76.12.4.36..." line (do not remove any other line!).
