WIN is generally a poor franchise. They really picked the wrong horse when it came to associations to align themselves with. This one may be an exception, I don't know.

If he or she does not have a commerical location, the value of the business is approx. 1/3 of gross sales. For example; if gross sales are 150,000.00 the value of the business is 50,000.00 Most home inspectors work out of their home office. The other aspect is repeat business, typical, most of our work we never see the client again. It's diffcult to warrant the price he or she is asking for the business.

In 2003 I has the opportunity to purchase the WIN Franchise in Tampa, after doing my due diligence I discovered that yes, I wanted to go into this business but unfortunately not as a WIN franchise holder. I don't know whatever happened to that franchise, but I never see any WIN trucks or literature in any of the Realtor offices, as far as I know WIN no longer exists here in Tampa.

In addition, the vast majority of referrals are for the individual inspector, not for the company name or franchise.

For $166,000 gross revenue, with two employees to pay, and you get all of the past liabilities. Your money would be better spent just starting your own business.

Exactly! When I looked at the comparisons with the other businesses they were offering, they didn't have those stats listed. Just some numbers in the text of the ad. Anyone should know that especially in this biz where there isn't an established repeat clientele necessarily that it is better just to start up on your own.

I can't imagine buying that at that price and struggling through the first three years to establish myself, while still having to pay off that debt. Yick.
