Richard, I'm interested in this "Inspector Down" fund idea. Do you want to run it for us? I'll pay to have the lawyers help you set it up.

Will, I don't have a PayPal account so I don't know where your $25 went. Don't veer from the instructions to donate and you'll be fine. Here is the link again: http://www.choosesuperiorinspection.com/payments.asp It goes right to Ray as if you were paying for one of his inspections from his site. We will take up a donation at upcoming www.nachi.org/comden.htm
I really like this "Inspector Down" fund idea though. We should set this up if Richard or someone will manage it. Nick Gromicko, Certified Master Inspector Find a Home Inspector "Just as iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another." Proverbs 27:17 |

The local school board does this for teachers. Each teacher can donate a days pay each year that goes into the accident or sick fund. When someone is hurt and out for an extended period they can draw money from this fund. To be eligible to draw funds you must have donated the days pay to the fund. I think that something like that would be great for us.

Ray,
Lucky man get well soon. Been there done that. I was riding my '71 Harley cross country 7 weeks after I broke mine. I know it's very painful now but there is hope and soon you'll be good as new. Oh, BTW the Dr. said 3 months rehab in my case. H-D is great therapy! I posted this on: http://www.inspectorsjournal.com/ http://inspectionnews.com/ Because many fellow inspector have supported me in difficult times I thought I'd share this with you. You all know who you are. Thanks I was not asked to make this post but felt inclined to do just that for the benefit of a fellow inspector who fell off his ladder and fractured 2 vertebrae. Any help would be appreciated I'm sure. Please work safe! Hello Everyone, Nick has asked if I would give everyone an update. First I would like to thank everyone who called, emailed, or sent donations. I am truly thankful for this and it means more than you know. I am thankful for NACHI for being there for me from the start of my inspection career until now. I feel there is not a better or more caring organization in the world this is something we can all be proud of. Nick is a class act and is willing to lend assistance when needed. I am doing well considering the circumstance. I am experiencing major pain. It is most difficult at night (no sleep). I am thankful to be alive, to be able to hug my wife and 2 boys. I broke 2 vertebrae, bruised muscles, and some scraps on my legs and nose. The Doctors expect a full recovery. It may be several months before I can inspect again, and yes I do plan on inspecting again! This unfortunate accident made me realize that yes it can happen to anyone no matter how well you prepare or how cautious you are. There is a big risk we take every time we inspect a building ( especially for those who use ladders and walk roofs). I plan on uploading pictures of the accident and my injuries for those who are interested. I will try and put a link in here in the next few days. I will give regular updates for those interested as well. Thanks again, Ray Thoroman Superior Home Inspections Gainesville, GA www.choosesuperiorinspection.com Donations: http://www.choosesuperiorinspection.com/payments.asp I'll be contacting http://www.odmp.org/officer.php?oid=17805 to find out what it takes to set up a fund. That's my grand-dads page and the guys at ODMP have been instrumental in getting recognition and funds to fallen officers families. This should also be brought to the attention of all Chapters.
Not everyone in NACHI visits the BB. I have contacted the NACHINT Chairman to send this out to all of or members I hope other Chapters would do the same. Yes, I have the time to run point on this idea -- I will need some help esp in the "IDEAs" area We all can go down and who better to help than a NACHI member that knows what is going on. Next step I would think would be 1. Get off my tail and do some research on the subject (Going to make some phone calls to some people who have been there) 2. Get you on the phone when you have some time 3. See what the lawers have in mind ------ I think the project of setting up the structure will not be bad and it will be able to assist in time of need with more power and speed. rlb 863 635-5741 richard@rlbinspections.com reginabennett96@msn.com |

I sent in my donation.
Nick I definitly like the idea of a fund to help injured/sick members. Idea/thought: membership fee increased by 10.00 and that extra amount is automatically placed into the fund. All members would then be covered. |

Or leave the fee as is and subtract $10 and place it in the fund. I don't see any reason to raise the fee.

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to give a update and post some ''hot'' pics as Nick would say of me and the home where I fell. My brother took the photos and put them in a inspection report. This link should work. http://report.choosesuperiorinspection.com/ray.pdf I wanted to again thank everyone for there kind words and support. Still taking it one day at a time and trying to manage the pain. I know there is still a long road ahead here in many aspects! I wanted to let you know the support here means the world to me. I experienced something rather ugly or total opposite at another inspection association I am a member of. I really support the ''hurt inspector fund'' idea. Maybe another positive thing to come of a unfortunate accident One more pic I took in the hospital of my nose boo boo (still swelling). Thanks, Ray </IMG> |
