Guess it depends on where you are. I use my SupraKey 2-3 times per week. I get the CBS code from the Listing Agent and once in a while a new agent is not familiar with that code but it's easy enough to explain to them and they get back to me with it. Invariably, the office manager or assistant knows or has access to the CBS. I wouldn't give mine up for anything. My area also went to the new lockboxes and access devices just a couple of months ago but they did not obsolete the simple Display Key SupraKey here.

Up here in INdiana you have to join the local realtors group $400 a year and then pay about $300 a year for the Supra key.
Not worth it - have only had a couple of delays because realtors are to lazy to come over and open the door - but they always show at the closing. |

When I asked, bonding was only effective / worthwhile if you have employees. Otherwise, what are you doing, I was asked - protecting yourself from yourself?
I had Supra E-Keys in Colo, no problem. Idaho feels Affiliates are not worthy enough - or it's a control issue with them. But, they wil give us combos, which have no electronic signature. Go figure. |

In Saint Louis anyone joining as a affiliate realtor can get a key and open any lock when you enter your password and it has to be after 8am, no need to be ASHI or NACHI.

In Colorado all you had to be is a member of the board of realtors and you could lease a supra key. One board didn't care for them and stuck with combo lockboxes. We would just call the listing agent, get clearance and the combo. Only about 25% of the buyers agents would show up.
Here in Washington the NorthWest MLS doesn't trust inspectors and realtors must guard the premise while we are in it. Kinda pain in the butt but I never wake up in a cold sweat wondering if I locked the slider when I was done or turned off the oven. Thats now the realtor's responsibility. There was a concern that we would be rushed through the inspection but I have yet to see that. The funny thing is most realtors go sit on the deck or in there car, or leave while I am inspecting. The last thing they do is guard the premises. On the positive side I get to spend some quality time with realtors who I do like and they get to see what the issues are. //Rick |

In Ohio the realtors assume you have a key. I lost several inspections because I did not have one. Needless to say getting a key moved to the top of my to-do list. Since I have the key I find that realtors stop by near the end of the inspection to get a summary & speak with their (our) client.

Nick,
How do I go about getting the key. I've been asked a few times if I had one. I said no and I much prefer being with the buyers agent and buyer at the inspection. After some hemming and hawing they usually comply. I haven't lost an inspection yet from not having one. It sounds like a great marketing tool. What do we have to do in Georgia , Nick , to get one. I've attempted on a couple of occasions to obtain a Supra Key, however the MLS service for my area (Augusta, GA) requires me to either be a licensed appraiser or Realtor. This is not as frustrating for me as it is many of the realtors I deal with that have to come to the property just to let me in. Any ideas on what we can do here in my area to change this?

I think that's a position held by most or all local boards in Idaho. I would like to see some uniformity, nation-wide, regarding this. Can NACHI act as a providor for Supra keys? |
