Sure.

But I dont want ESOP bombarded by complants of violations. This is why I believe it belongs up front in the membership requirements section. Tell 'em up front. It gives them time to decide what they want to do, and allows them time to plan inclusion in their marketing strategy.

Put it in both places...

Claude,

Good point but ASHI members are not one of the protected classes in either Canada or the U.S., and since we do not require that one quit other associations to join NACHI (although our lawyers say we could require that they quit Scumbag NAHI as they are perpetrating a fraud on consumers), one can't claim monopolistic aspiration or free trade hinderance on the part of NACHI.

Is there some other clarification that you are referring to? The one you posted does not require members to add NACHI logos to anything.
Your right, it only says "word, link and/or text"

I think it's time for some shut eye, it's been a long weekend.

Thanks Jeff - it was simply that - an honest question! Not a threat, but obviously my Canadian dialect came across differently.

I raised the issue because other associations (in Canada) have gotten into trouble over the issue of trying to enforce unlawful conditions on members or as terms of employment.

Perhaps another thread here regarding Mr. Allen has caused some pent up concerns regarding the prominence of logos on websites. Again it was not intended to be vindictive or threatening. Just a simple question. Now I can see that clarifications have been posted.

BTW: Seems there is a NACHI Conference link on our home page - its been there for some time now!

Done.

I switched to the other version of the clarification which better represents the spirit of what we are trying to say, added it to the bottom of http://www.nachi.org/code_of_ethics.htm page and the bottom of http://www.nachi.org/membership.htm page and the bottom of http://www.nachi.org/join.htm page and forwarded it to staff to draw from when answering questions from members of other associations or questions about this clarification.

Anything else I should do?

Nick - good points - but ASHI, OAHI or CAHPI do not demand that I as an example post their logo, or make one more or less prominent than another. If so please note no logos on my website.

That is not a condition of their membership. Nor do they require their members to not belong to another association. Which gets back to my earlier comments regarding legality issues or challenges for unfair practices (perceived, real or otherwise).

It's not unfair. The fact that some other little Mom & Pop organization out of Illinois doesn't have a similar requirement means nothing.

Claude,

You DO mention other associations, along with NACHI on your links page. That's fine.

So does Ray Wand.

That's also fine.

This is my favorite NACHI endorsement that I have on my web page.

NEWS: "Consumer Reports®"
Recommends NACHI, The Largest
Inspection Organization In The World

I actually get negative votes against me sometime on this forum because
I am pro-NACHI.

Oh well... I don't care...

I wouldn't want to trade places with you. In this case my ******** came more as a result of being overtired and missing the finer details of the issue. For that you have my apology.

At the same time, one thing that you can always count on. When I ***** about something I will include (or follow with) suggestions on how it may be handled differently.

With respect to this issue, I get the point as to why you may have wanted it to be a little stealthy. It isn't a bad idea to try to catch some of these "abusers" by surprise, before they can slap up a logo temporarily.

I would be the last one to want to prevent some cleaning house as our chapter is in growth mode and (given the cap) we need those slots. As I told you privately, those new members coming form us do not fit in the category. Our membership deal is offered in combination with paying for chapter membership. I speak to each new members and visit their web sites.

At least in Wisconsin, most of the NACHI hating ASHI and NAHI members wouldn't be caught dead even visiting the NACHI site. You can be sure that I will be on the lookout for any exceptions who would take advantage.

Here's one. How does this apply or not apply to CMI's. We have a NACHI member here (who is not a chapter member) and is a CMI and has the CMI logo on his front page with no organizations motioned.

On his links page he has ASHI on top, NAHI on the bottom and various other affiliations but DOES NOT include NACHI. No logos though.

We also have one chapter member (not active) just sent us a check who has an ASHI logo and no mention of NACHI or a logo anywhere. We'd hate to loose a chapter members but if he is an "abuser" we'd just as soon keep his money and fill his spot with somebody else.

Last though is maybe a quota system for areas with the largest population of
NACHI members so smaller areas can continue to grow without hitting the "ceiling".
