I heard only about 350 or so inspectors attended this year's Vegas expo.
A far cry from the past.

Can I join your chapter?

My experience with ITA was after you heard everything they had to say about twice, it was not interesting anymore. It seemed that their business model relied on a large crop of new inspectors each year to stay in business.

Hmmmmm that reminds me of something, nevermind..............

Exactly. They provided many initial courses needed for newbies to get their licenses.

InterNACHI does not now, nor ever offered such courses for that exact reason. We only cater to the existing inspector with our state approved CONTINUING education and ADVANCED course offerings: www.nachi.org/education.htm

ITA was started by ASHI presidents. That is why they share a common business model of chasing newbies. ASHI is so geared to newbies that after 30 years, they still don't have a single entrance requirement. Unconscionable! All you need to join ASHI is a credit card... text book definition of a diploma mill. ASHI has a 35 second, online, come-only-with-cash application: http://www.homeinspector.org/join/ap...n/default.aspx

Consumers beware! Look for the ASHI logo and avoid all inspectors who display it.

James,

You are more than welcome to join or just attend the meetings. We do not charge a membership fee although now there may be a cover charge at the door.

There are plenty of start-up learning opportunities out there, esp if one has any experience in the trades.
This should only make www.nachi.org/join even more attractive, as potential HIs gauge their abilities via the test.
The true beauty of NACHI, in this regard, is the ongoing educational opps afforded, so many of which are free - either online, or at the chapter level.
Fascinating times we are in, and the Darwinian restructuring of the industry will only strengthen those of us who survive as we thrive!
