In most areas the "riff-raff" became LEGITIMIZED by becoming licensed.
In some areas the "riff-raff" became part of the governing body.
If ALL you have to legitimize you is a license / You're selling dog crap.
In most areas licensining DID NOT get rid of "low ballers, riff-raff, etc", IF anything it increased the numbers of under qualified Bozo Billy's.
ALL licensing has done in many areas is show the world THAT somebody other than us, run our business.
Thank you Dan. Very well said.

How Nick.
Because you own the company and set your price doers not mean that consumers will buy your merchandise, home inspection and education in this case..
Secondly you start to price fix.
I know you like $$$ but really priced fix and controlling the market.
Look at gas prices and fixing in that market.
You are one of the rare holders that gives back needlessly.
That is the quality that has let you succeed.
Without it you would be like ASHI.
I could be mistaken.
Now for the licensing.
It sets a minimum standard and the consumer can ask for validation that's all, and does not help improve quality.
Look at being a car owner. You are forced to obtain a license.
Does it make you a better drive.
I drive the streets and can answer the question outright. NO NO NO NO NO.
Now for regulation. I can maybe see it working BUT.
The principle would have to start with that minimum standard ( it all ready in some states.), and levels be set to upgrade yearly or hourly or homes that have been inspected to increase you earning level..
Meaning a form of grading.
A class b ,c , d,etc and each one having a monetary as will as a classification increase.
It would allow you to increase your fees.
If a home buyer would like, he could ask the inspector to see there license to identify there qualifications.
From that, a set minamum pay would be expected and no more arguments about he charges x and I charge y and we are both the same.
It would set a minimum pay scale and you could complain to the authorizes about licensed HI charging less than a given rate and they would have there license revoked for a set number of days weeks years, etc.
Home inspection ( residential building inspectors ) would be carried like a trade ticket.
See trades are good .
ACHI WOULD DO THIS FOR Canadian HI industry.
