David I have chronic pain issues and was dependant on Oxycontin for two years. It took me months to wean off of them because the withdrawals are so awful. You CAN become addicted in a matter of a couple of weeks.

It scares me when you say "pop a couple oxy's" because they are extended release. Not like other pain pills. They are to gradually release a small amount of medication over a 12 hour period. You should only take what is prescribed and no more because it can cause severe breathing issues.

Believe it or not, extended release morphine is easier to come off of than oxycontin. It is still addictive, but the withdrawals are not as severe.

I'm sorry for being so nosey but there is a huge class action lawsuit involving oxycontin because there isn't adequate warning to patients of the severity of the addiction issues.

Still in my prayers,
Wendy

Poppin Oxy's - I think they call that living like a rock star. Then again how many rock stars have been through rehab? AND did you see the Stones at superbowl halftime - how many times has Ron Woods been through rehab??

I am sure this is pretty painful but 25 years ago this kind of reconstruction wasn't possible. We are pretty lucky with the level of medicine we have in this country. Keep working the knee and get back into physical therapy as soon as you can. They will have you back on a ladder in no time. Don't know if you do crawls but you will want to get the deluxe knee pads. My knees are in reasonable shape (running and 10 years of karate did take their toll) and they get pretty source after a long crawl with pads,

Hey Dave,
Hope your feeling better. Be careful with those Oxy's. I had neck surgery for a herniated disk a few years ago. They put a cadaver bone in and fused it. I had to take a boat load of drugs for a while before and after the surgery. "You will get better!!" It just takes time. Believe me guys, you don't realize how good you feel every day until you get really hurt. Careful on those stairs.

Joe,

Thank you for caring.

I just had my suchers (5) removed yesterday. Wow, it was extremly painful. The nurse snipped the small suchers and pulled them out without a problem, but when she got to the long one, I came real close to screaming out loud from the burning pain. It hurt like hell.

So, the suchers are now out. My doctor tells me to put one of crutches aside and start walking with one crutch. I'm OK with that. I'm now limping around with one crutch. He also showed me the x-rays of my knee. I could barely see the two screws holding my new tendon in place, and I could see the hole in my bone at the opposite end where he laced the tendon through and added a button on the opposite side of the tibia bone, to hold the tendon in place.

I'm starting to get up the stairs a tad easier now, as the pain (at my knee area) is lessening on a daily basis. It still hurts quite a bit, but No more Candy (pain pills) for me. They're all gone. It was nice for a while, as it put me in la-la land while I was laying in bed all day. I can say that oxy's are addictive but I'm not going out of my mind trying to get another one. I'm OK.

<<< I THANK GOD NO INFECTION DEVELOPED >>>

8-12 weeks of additional physical therapy and I should be Good to GO.

Here's what my leg looks like today...

Oh...I'm getting rid of the hospital bed (that I had planted in my living room on 1st floor) and the CPM machine, TODAY.

I think I'll go out today to run some errands. I'm getting tired of watching TV 12 hours a day.

Hi Dave,

I am so pleased that you are recovering well, and back to hoping around, but could you do me a favor and write me a brief synopsys of "Days of our Lives" as I haven't had time to watch it.

Seriouslt, be well my friend and continue to make a speedy recovery.

Best wishes

Gerry
