One of the things I found is that you have to be real careful about home inspector associations because they can get really negative. I’m involved in some and have seen you at some conferences where it is fantastic and there are people there who are like minded and it is the best time and you can learn a ton. But sometimes I hate to say it, but I go to local meetings and it is just the opposite. A bunch of crotchety old fellas sittin’ around complaining about everything, telling us how smart they are and how much they know about things. And it’s not me at all. I think, no no, I’m not supposed to be in here. I’ve been kind of disappointed by the statewide and local associations like that.

So I’m a member of InterNACHI. I love their educational products and so I get a lot from there. I think they’re a very forward-thinking organization and they’re really the only one besides a local texas chapter. InterNACHI is where I get a lot of good education and material. They seem to always have something new coming out. And those people seem to think like us. And they’re kind of nice to be around. They’re positive. You can share information with them and they will share it with you.

Local chapters are as good as the agenda created by those running them.
