Today, I invited the current President of NIC ASHI (our local ASHI chapter) to attend. I will be paying for him. He stated that he would pass along the seminar at their next chapter meeting and invite ASHI's current executive director.

I was at a NACHI meeting couple years ago and the local ASHI chapter president and executive director were at that meeting too. They enjoyed it. Most ASHI members don't have a problem with NACHI although you couldn't tell that from this board. I've been to at least 50 ASHI meetings and have never heard a single bad word against NACHI. The only battles we have are with are own perceptions..

Barry Kreiter. Sin't he still the Pres? I know him from the IHIA where he and I are both directors.

I agree, Erol. NIC ASHI is pretty good. Great Lakes Chapter is another story, from my experience.

Barry is also a good friend of mine. He was the president for 2007 but still has a role in chapter leadership. In 2008 it was Jack McGraw. Most of the old ASHI guys who did have additude problems don't go to the meetings anymore.

In these times, I have made very good business with inspections other than the usual, pre-purchase inspections:

Thermal Imaging can lead to inspections for:

• Energy Audits
• Water Intrusion (very lucrative, given all the glaciers that have been building up on the local roofs)
• Condo Association transition, water intrusion and insulation inspections.
• Given the new "green" and energy codes, in our area, and the lack of coordination with the people who write and enforce the local building codes, there is a real bug market for GCs and contractors who do not have a clue about what this all means to their pocketbook and future work.
• Finding finished basement leaks (dove tailing into mold and IAQ inspections).
• GC and contractor inspections wor problems. Did one today, where the builder was concerned because the buyer (big, custom house) was going nuts over one cold room, "leaky windows" and falling wallpaper in the master bedroom. Inspected. the only real problems were:
  • The 'cold room" was a result of a) HVAC air flow 1/2 of the rest of the house in this room. Just balance the system. GC has the HVAC sub do this. No cost to GC.
  • The "cold room" had a masonry fireplace with an exterior air intake (out the back). The owner removed the sealed glass front to this fireplace and had cold air infiltration.
  • The owner has been running the humidifiers at 55%, while the outside temps were in the low double and single digits. OF COURSE they will get condensation on the walls and windows. Can I get a "DUH"?
• And many more.

Glad you are going to talk about IR Cams, the subject is pretty fascinating, I really liked attending your first class on it. I wish i could buy one right now but i would have to hock my 1950 Panhead to get the cash. That's not going to happen.

Maybe we can convince Nick to give an IR camera as a door prize? ...

I know of a couple of places....lol There are many, many pizza places in Chicago. Everybody has a favorite BUT the popular places are crowded and not always the best..

I have a place....yum..... Don't tell Bob ....

Calos is the best.
But on North Clark in Andersonville.

Need to wait and see where Dom is staying,so we can pick an easy area.

Nothing good near Hillside that I know of ,though there is a Giordano s listed near by.

They have great stuffed pizza , which is what Dom wants.
