Licensing commoditizes inspectors and causes consumers to price shop between equally licensed inspectors. The ad is designed to remind consumers that not all inspectors are equal just because they carry the exact same state license. Some inspectors fulfill requirements above and beyond the bare minimum that is required by law.

No, I guess I really don't see any comparison either:

Where inspectors are licensed, being licensed is a lot like being up-to-code.
It is so minimal that if it were any less it would be outright illegal.
InterNACHI's membership requirements are above and beyond what a new inspector is required to do to get licensed.

The way I interpret the ad, when you "Certify" an inspector today, and put him on the "Find an Inspector" websites today, you're kind of eating your own words about "Licensing"---

I posted the following in another thread earlier today regarding a recent quote that stuck in my craw at the time it was made & it still does:

I too get a little queasy when you voice your disdain for inspectors in licensed states like Texas. What was your quote from a couple of weeks ago? Oh yeah "Most of them dopes are in licensed states too (the license even fools them into believing they are competent)." Well, my 448 required classroom hours and ~100 CE's mean a lot to me and hopefully prove my commitment to the profession and I prefer not to think of myself and other Texas HI's as incompetent dopes. Oh well, I suppose I can live with your low view of us though...I'll get over it.
