Joe Farsetta is independent of everyone. I and staff call him up often and ask him what to do in this situation or that. We are often unsure about what is the right thing to do. Joe always hashes it out and gives us his decision.

I defer to him, not the other way around.

Joe Farsetta serves at NACHI's pleasure but that doesn't mean he does what I, staff, or the majority of members desire. He does what he thinks is best, independent of us all.

Then why don't federal judges, supreme court justices, independent counsels, etc elected?

anton scalia said the supreme court had become "black robe masters" changing the constitution at will, and treat is like a living breathing oranism, which it is not. this is why they should also have to run for their position..

There are a bazillion organizations that work to keep their independent investigators just that... independent. Among them NACHI, Internal Affairs at police departments and the United States of America.

I really don't forsee any of them changing anytime soon.

Can you imagine if the Internal Affairs investigators had to win popularity contests held by police officers in their department?

There should be yearly elections for all positions. If not, then NACHI shouldn't be referred to as a 'members driven organization'. We can't even choose our own leaders.
