Navy Lands Unmanned Jet On Aircraft Carrier

The successful touchdown paves the way for unmanned aircraft to operate alongside traditional airplanes, which will provide around-the-clock surveillance while also possessing strike capability. In a statement, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus said, “The operational unmanned aircraft soon to be developed have the opportunity to radically change the way presence and combat power are delivered from our aircraft carriers.”

I think jet’s capabilities surpassed the limits of human endurance a while back, mostly those related to reaction time and the ability to withstand G-forces. This is a whole new ballgame. Too bad jets can’t take and hold ground.

If we can get guys out of harms way, great. This is a serious leap in technology.

(as a joke, this does sound a bit like Skynet)

Nope…no joke! It started last year.
