We all sometimes respond to those that make the most noise but do not present much logic

And I understand that I probably should send this to you as a private email so I know that its gets to you but lets see what happens

PS I think my idea about true inspections should be put into the formula. This is sort of a take off on Great Lakes ASHI program and I think they have a good plan

Too bad that their NATIONAL did not agree

So you believe they have earned the title, and what they think matters more because they are cmi?

Ben

They put their name in the hat for one reason or another when others will calling them a lot of names -- For one reason or another they are the first CMHI's -- we can not take that away from them

As far as I can see since Nick has signed away the CMI program his ideas for change mean nothing -- it is up to the CMI board and we have heard nothing from them

Nick - is this so -- you have know control over the CMI board?

I need CMI for a few reasons, one is that I'm working on getting a Federal HI License for the industry and found some support at the Federal level. This is one of the puzzle pieces that is necessary. I'm going to try to get a national professional designation (CMI) that would exempt us from state licensing and give us interstate reciprocity. This is why I have been so hung up on each requirement being both meaningful and verifiable, why I had to include the criminal background check, and why I had to write a COE that exceeded every other known COE.

Nick

I am on your side BUT I have a past back ground with federal license programs-- sort of did not work - Now saying that this might make it but might be a large project -- like commercial driver license's - Pilot licenses -etc

Any thoughts on field testing of inspectors??

Like do you think national contractors, electricians, real estate agents should be regulated on a national level or a local local level??

I said in the beginning of this bruhaha, Nick has something going on, he would not be chasing around all these formulas for nothing. . . . Just get on board!
Now I understand the method to his madness!

I don't feel that I am a Master either. I do feel that I have enough experience to determine that the current requirements are not adequate. While I don't think that the proposed requirements are perfect they are better than the current ones and can easily be implemented. I have faith that the members of the board will work to improve the requirements over time. IMHO anyone that stays quite (pro or con) about the current requirements is doing a disservice to our profession.

I hope that we see these proposed requirements enacted in a short period of time. I want thank all of you that have expressed your opinions during this debate. I know that I have stepped on some toes during this time but I feel that we will all grow from this experience.

The newly proposed CMI requirements are definitely much better than the ORIGINAL.

I'm in favor...

Question...Do all the newly appointed CMI's still qualify, after this revision is put into effect?

What happens to all of the appointed CMI's up to when the new requirements are implemented is a tough question.

I think all but 3 qualify when we adopt the new requirements and the other 3 are on their way. However it is uncustomary to take away existing professional designation holders in any industry as the requirements increase over time. This is also true for nearly all license holders in any industry.
