Default New CMI Qualification - Jan. 1,2008

New CMI Qualification starting Jan. 1, 2008

A new qualification has been added to the list of CMI conditions and will go into
affect Jan. 1, 2008. This new condition of approval will be for all NEW applicants
only (it does not affect current CMI's).

See highlighted item in list below:

Quote:
The Master Inspector Certification Board, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(6), tax-exempt organization dedicated to promoting excellence in the inspection industry. The Board holds the registered Trademark Certified Master Inspector® (CMI), the inspection industry’s top professional designation, and awards it qualifying inspectors who have demonstrated a high level of competency by:
  1. Completing 1,000 fee-paid inspections or hours of inspection-related continuing education (combined) in their lifetime.
  2. Proving they've been in the inspection business for at least 3 years.
  3. Abiding by the industry's toughest Code of Ethics.
  4. Substantially following a Board approved Standards of Practice.
  5. Submitting to a criminal background check.
  6. Applying for Board certification by signing the affidavit in front of a Notary.
See CMI web page:

Thank you for your patience, as the details of this change have been resolved, and it is
now time for the change. The new 3 year qualification will be good for consumers and
inspectors alike...IMHO.

The following details about the new qualification can be found on the CMI appliation at
http://www.certifiedmasterinspector.org/cmi/app.html

Quote:
Have been in the inspection business for at least 3 years and supply proof by submitting ONE of the following:

a. A copy of your government issued inspector's license demonstrating that you were an inspector 3 or more years ago, or...

b. A copy of your business license demonstrating that you were an inspector 3 or more years ago, or...

c. Evidence that demonstrates that you were a member of an inspection association 3 or more years ago, or...

d. A copy of the first page of your inspection business tax return from 3 or more years ago, or...

e. A copy of a DBA document demonstrating that you were an inspector 3 or more years ago or...

f. 3 signed letters from business people or past clients stating that you were an inspector 3 or more years ago.

Thanks to all the CMI's, InterNACHI members and everyone helping
the CMI free educational program to be such a huge success.

George Wells recent CMI electrical course has drawn in over
600 inspectors so far. I think other education providers should
take note and see the formula for sparking such interest.

Offer a real service and benefit and then watch that act come back to
you more than thousands of advertising dollars could ever buy.

My hat is off to George Wells for his hard work in helping
the free CMI online educational initiative become such a success.

Inspectors helping Inspectors
... at it's best.
