First of all, I find it highly suspicious that the cut needed was exactly 50%. That is such a round number. Not 48.1%. Not 54.6%. But exactly 50%. It almost sounds as if there was no analysis done. 50% sure sounds like a novice was shooting from the hip.
But aside from their analysis resulting in exactly a 50% cut (which makes me think there was no analysis done at all).... Chrysler needs to increase advertising, not decrease it. When sales are slow it is time to advertise (that goes for home inspectors as well as car companies). Do the reverse when sales are up. No sense in wasting money on advertising if your home inspection calendar is already booked, or if you are moving cars off the lot anyway. Chrysler needs to assure the public that the bankruptcy does not mean that customers won't be able to get parts or service for their cars. They need to grab former GM customers. They need to excite customers about their products. They need to increase sales. And they need to off-set the bad publicity of the bankruptcy. Those all require an increase in advertising, not a decrease. Whenever you see someone who has never run a corporation cut something exactly in half... it usually means one thing.... an idiot made the call. It is almost as if someone who never ran a business has taken over Chrysler. Ooops... spoke too soon. As chairman of the board, president & ceo, of Chrysler, Obama can do anything he wants with his new toy! When that toy breaks, he has GM as a back up toy.
FORD has got to be loving this! Obama DOES know the advantage of advertising. He spends millions flying all over the country to sell himself! I guess he likes HIS product better!! How about cutting that "advertising" budget by 50%. Correrction make it 100%! |

There seems to be a trend in this (particularly the 50% mark). Newsweek editor is cutting their circulation / readership by 50% while raising the price of a subscription and think it is a good idea. Hmmmmm. Spin and BS most likely.

I feel, in some ways, that the United States does not have a President. Just a PR guy. Slow sales happen in some companies, and their PR guy is usually the first to be fired.

Go buy a Chrysler and a Newsweek if you are that concerned.
If not, at least stop blowing smoke. |

50% mark!! Now I understand the concept: Obama took 50% of my income California took the other 50% 50/50 now I get it. |

Zero should not be telling any business what or how to do anything.

Can't wait to see the car zero designes. Soap box derby, anyone. Wonder, was he ever a burger flipper? NAH, there wasn't a tela prompter above the grill to tell zero when to flip, and when to start toasting those buns. |

It is clear that Osama has nationalized Chrysler. Which company is next? G.M.? The banks are already gone. Anyone still doubt his march to Socialism?

Obama only owes half of Chrysler. The Unions own the other half. It's a partnership, seems like capitalism to me!!! Just think, like Ford with the Edsel, Chrysler will now have an Obama! |
