One of our guys got wacked $24K from ASPREI. Anyone heard of them?

I recall an article written by the president of ASPREI some years back pertaining to the ownership of the inspection report. I believe this was in something from FREA, but we're talking somewhere back around 2001 or 2002.

His claim or argument was that the other associations (ASHI and NAHI were mentioned) are incorrect by believing that the client is the owner of the report. His argument was that the report is the intellectual property of the inspector that did the due diligence to compile and write its contents. I found it to at least be an interesting argument.

This is from their COE, posted on their web site; Like the similar disciplines of engineering and architecture, the inspector owns the work product, the report.

24k would be about 80 years of dues. WTF??

Well I'm new to this whole message board thing, but I have been reading and studing the NACHI message board now for the past several weeks - I gotta tell you - this is the best thing out there!
I counted about 40 members listed on the website, so $24,000 divided by 40 maybe?
