Again, this is not an Obama - Bush race, it is an Obama - McCain race. Just to clarify. McCain is pretty much the same guy.
And Will, weren't you telling us during the last election what a great guy GW was? If so why should I trust your judgment this time? |

So, we do the best with what we have. I disagree with Bush on a couple of things. I think that he let Rumpsfeld mess up Iraq. I think that he waited too long, while attempting to garner "international support" for invading Iraq. I beleive that he has been too diplomatic in his dealings with Putin and some others. I also disagree with some of McCain's positions. I think that we should drill in ANWAR, and he does not. I think that we should, first, button up the borders and outlaw hiring illegals and NOT give any way for those already hear, illegally, to get legal. McCain does not. There are many other things that I disagree with Bush on and many other things that I disagree with McCain on. I won't bore you with them all. But, I REALLY disagree with Obama and I know that Biden is just an old stuffed shirt. I can't vote for who I really wanted because hedidn't win the primary, so I will vote for the best AVAILABLE candidate, which is McCain. My point was that Bush and McCain also disagree in many of their policies. No one is perfect. But, this election is NOT about Bush. He ain't running. So, please stop trying to confuse the subject by injecting Bush. He ain't running, this time. Oh, and neither is Chaney. Many people are always trying to tie these two together, because they are both Republicans. Even though their differences are obvious and the tension between them has been ongoing, they are two completely different people with two completely different views. While we are on this subject, let me point out several (not all) differences between the two... The number one difference is that one of them has a lot less hair. McCain advocates the end to the detention of foreign terrorists in Cuba. GW (on the other hand) thinks that they should remain open. Regarding the Iraq war, the GW administration has caused destabilization in the Middle East. Some people might say that because McCain voted for the war that he is to blame for the decision as well, but let’s face some freaking reality there. At that time...the majority of Americans were for the war, because of the damn White House media propaganda and their lies. They convinced everyone that they heard continuous reports about WMD and at the same time, we heard the world news blabbing about Saddam trying to block the inspectors from gaining entry to the facilities. Please don’t start blaming McCain for this war decision. Unlike GW, John McCain is against any forced interrogation methods, such as Water-boarding. A week after the Katrina swallowed the Gulf coast, McCain blasted the Bush administration for the failed response in this area.. McCain wanted to use more troops for the surge, which shows his experience and from what we see now. It might have been a good idea, but ships already sailed and what we have now is a destabilized region. McCain is simply smarter and tougher on defense of this country. He also would not have approved torture. I doubt seriously that he would have allowed people to sit in Gitmo for as long as they did without anything happening. I also don't believe McCain would have started a war with phony evidence. He seems to be more honest, IMO. The damn DEMS want to set deadlines for pulling out the troops. This is basically impossible, because you can’t remove troops from an unstable region safely. Ask anyone (that you know) who's been in the military. It’s just not possible. McCain’s plan is to simply stabilize the region and set up bases just like we have done in other countries such as Germany. There are many other differences between McCain and Bush, but I think the most important difference is that Bush is clearly incompetent and McCain has shown clear competence. |
