Default Random tip (unrelated to tech or inspections)

I just bought a used Corolla, and it only came with one key & one keyless entry remote. I went to the hardware store to get a second key made, and the guy there told me that you can buy new keyless entry remotes on eBay and reprogram them yourself for a fraction of what the dealer charges. Depending on the car, you just have to follow a sequence of events (open the door, close the door, put key in ignition, take out key, etc—it's different for each car). The Toyota dealer would charge over $150 for a new remote, but I just bought one on eBay for $20 (shipped). Assuming the reprogramming works, I'll be one happy camper. I thought someone else on here might find that info interesting.

Great tip but no good for me. Can't do it for my wife's Buick.

Here is a great resource on how to reprogram fobs.

Yep! That's where I got my instructions. I love that you have to do so many random things to get it into 'programming mode'.
