I will be right there beside you on this if when tomorrow comes and I don't get paid. If she pays me, then I will call it good and wait for the next round of jobs from them. If not paid, she will definitely hear from me on it and if they do anything sleazy I will right them off once and for all!

But if they pay! I can always use the money!

I did one inspection for them inspecting a tow truck. Took about 15 mins. I was promised to be paid at the end of the month. I did not see it for 90 days and then there was a check in the mail. They have no idea of customer support but they did pay me. I would not do
another inspection unless they paid me first. Not worth my time to chase a payment.

I would be totally surprised if Scott gets his money Friday. There will be an excuse or another hoop to jump through.

It kind of reminds me of an old story- A boy is walking down the road and he sees a snake trying to cross a busy street. The snake ask the boy to carry him to the other side of the street. The boy tells the snake no way you are a snake and you would surely bite me. The snake told the boy no way ! You would help me out and I would forever be greatfull. The boy tells the snake that you are just saying that to get a chance to bite me. The snake replies that we would be friends and I would not treat a friend like that. The boy gives in and picks the snake up and carry him across the road, as he puts the snake down the snake bites the heck out of the boy. The boy looks at the snake with disbelief and said but you promised me you would not bite me. The snake laughed and told the boy I don't feel sorry for you....you knew what I was when you met me.

If you deal with the snake and get bit, then you should have known better. I just wish that I would have checked the message boards when they contacted my....I was not wise enough to see a snake, I see the snake now after like many other who got bit.

As a disinterested party, this seems like the way to deal with them in a working relationship.

Get a credit card number, and verify it, before doing the work. Then charge it to that card when you've completed the agreement.

I don't know what they pay and it may not be worth the hassle but that payment method may help some.

I get the whole "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me". I really do! If I am fooled twice then done with them I will be. However, they did just pay me for the old job! She didn't give me any run around about it. She got approval and paid me!

I'm not naive. But I do try to see the good in people. And in always trying to see the good in people you will have times where someone takes advantage of you. I would never go into anything like this if I had seen so many complaints about them. However, I didn't see any of this before I took the first job. I want to believe these are isolated cases(they may not be). But I will live a more stress free life looking at the positives over the negatives. I could have looked at the negatives and not done anymore business with them because of the non-payment issue. But, by accepting the job, I was paid for the first job. That's $50 in my pocket I didn't have the day before. And I am positive I will be paid for the second job.

By being positive and not beating her down about the last job, just mentioning it to her in a nice professional manor, I was able to secure payment. And I know from experience that the nicer you are to people the more they are willing to do things for you.

After 15 years in the retail sales and management field I have run across plenty of dissatisfied customers. And when they came in screaming and yelling and being unreasonable, I didn't budge! They got next to nothing out of me. If they came in, voiced their concerns in a civil, intelligent way and didn't raise their voice, I would go above and beyond for that person!

So having that knowledge and being able to see both sides of the coin, I conceded that being civil with her would get the desired response. And here I am $50 richer!

If not paid this time I will wash my hands of them. But I will let it go quicker this time. Not worth the worry. If nothing else I was able to see inside a pretty nice hotel I haven't been in before, meet the owner who had some interesting stories to tell and gain some perspective into a different kind of inspection area. I just gained more experience!

I still want paid though!

Congrats Scott, I would have lost a steak dinner on that bet. I sent another round of emails this morning and phone calls. I did get a response back from Ms. Shannon Waters asking how I wanted to get paid credit card or Paypal. I told them PayPal was fine, the was 7 hours ago. No payment has been made yet. You must have the golden touch to get yours so easily today....I'd go buy a lottery ticket if I was you. Well I will keep pounding on the door untill I get paid. I sent emails when I got home from inspections at just before 4 pm. I will start calling and emailing again on Monday.....yes I know its a holiday, but I will still be inspecting and on the trail of my money....lol.

Well after alot of calls and emails and just pestering the heck out of SecureTrac I got paid ! Now keep in mind the $ 50 turned into $ 48.50 because PayPal gets their cut but I'm just glad its over. I have more than enough inspections to keep me busy 6 days a week. I don't need the stress or hassle and when I figure the energy that I placed into getting paid I could have done an inspection and a radon test and made $ 400-$ 450 (average fees). So I wouldn't do it again. I want to be 1 for 1 and not 1 for 2. For you guys still needing to get paid contact shannon and you need to either accept credit cards or Paypal. Good luck

Glad they got it done for you! When I did my first inspection for them they said they send checks and I never questioned it. Had I known then what I know now I would have made sure I was paid by credit card. When questioned about payment yesterday she threw the credit card thing out at me like there was never a problem to do this.

So I say if you don't, start, accepting credit cards or do the paypal thing.

Maybe you will get paid!

I have contracted with Secure Trac for almost 5 yrs. I have always treated Blaine, with great respect, and have received the same. I have ALWAYS been paid in a timely manner. This just makes me wonder....Is there more to the story? Sometimes we get what we give out of life. To use this forum to bash, berate, and belittle another small business owner, is just not cool!

I have to agree with you, Mark. I have worked with Blaine and Shannon for years. I have always been paid as promised, when payment was due. They have never been late on any Invoice. Secure Trac has been nothing but professional and I am always happy to perform inspections for them.

Great,
was asked last night to take some pictures, sad to say i dont trust anyone when it comes to business, i want to be paid. Looked up secure-trac and right under thier web was NACHI "Beware' clicked on that and read the threads, THANK YOU!!!! called Blaine and explained to her the threads, of course she blames us for not getting paid and promised i would be diffrent, declined the work,if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, chances are its a duck. Sorry for the people that did not get paid, but thanks to you all i will not be one of them, good day. mark.

Good for you for turning them down. I had to laugh when I read the post saying that it was bad to belittle and beat up on a small company. Karma that people don't get paid? No my friends when you do a job your hired for and you dot all the I's and cross all the T's and don't get paid
$ 50 and keep getting the run around its called fraud. Most people just give up because the amount is small. I got a call from a Company today in California called Allied. They wanted me to take 5 pictures of a house ask the owner 5 questions and get his signature. I was told they would pay
$ 10 ! I told the nice lady thanks but I would not do the job if it was next door. I was told well we get thousands of these request and they would go all the way to $ 20 ! Really are there home inspectors this dumb ? I sure hope not.

If they call you to do an inspection for them I would ask to get paid up front.

FYI: The inspections consist of taking photos of machines and equipment of all kinds. They have been spoken about here on the message board in the past and seemed to have a good rep but I have found them to not hold up to their end of the deal. Beware!

Spencer
Spencer there are quite alot of threads here that have shown that they do not pay on time or at all. run a search for secure trac and it should pull them up. I did one last year took three months to get paid. Won't do anymore. They use INACHI's site to find unsupecting victums. Inspector Beware.

Did an inspection for Secure Trac a year ago here in Michigan and still have not been paid. No one at Secure Trac will return your call. I have reported them to the BBB in Florida, so this does not happen to other inspectors. Even if you try to charge their cc you probally will not get paid. Do not do any inspections for them and advise your fellows inpsectors not to do any.
