September Inspection Slow Down?!?!?!....

Hey Guys,
I was super busy this summer with inspections... and actually early September, but now... I haven't had calls in 2 weeks, not even price shoppers?!!?!? I think between the "back to school" period and the waiting for the FED to announce the interest rates (nice cut) announced just this week..... Inspections really cooled.

Has it been the same for you???? Guess, I am not used to the "cool" down periods. I guess, I should enjoy the break, or the "calm" before the STORM.....

Indeed, it has slowed for me. But looking at my graphs from last year in comparison to this year I was expecting the slow down. We also had a huge storm that wrecked the city coupled with back to school, the housing slow down, etc have all contributed I sure. Hang in there it will pick up. I have hit the marketing trail a little harder lately.

Justin...in California this is not the calm before the storm, it's the doldrums and you should expect it to last for months, maybe years! I suspect you guys are in for rough times ahead. Sept will be my best month ever with a fair number of homes and 16,000 sf of light commercial.

Have you tried or are you considering the Move-in-Certified program. Just wondering since you are a fellow Illinois guy. I think Will has had some success with it?

Talking with a few realtors around here and they tell me they are expecting the down turn to continue. One even said it will last about a year and he has been through it a couple of times in his 35 year or so real estate career. I can see a few inspectors around here may not renew their licenses. Here is something interesting. I looked in the paper Sunday for home sales in the town over the last two weeks. 11 sales (3 for which was just land), I am guessing by the price tag on 3 homes that no home inspection was requested, I inspected 3 of the homes which leaves 2 homes that may or may not of had a HI request. What makes this interesting you ask? Answer: We have 5 inspectors in this town. But the inspectors keep coming with the lure of easy money, be your own boss, etc. One important part they miss: MARKET RESEARCH!

If you think you are slow, imagine what all these sellers are thinking.

Like I said, it is inspector heaven out there with more work than we can ever do if we all were working 14 hours a day, 7 days a week. I've been involved with the inspection industry for decades and I would say that the current market offers the most potential for inspectors to strike it rich.

Your potential customers have signs in their yard telling you who they are. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Nick, No nonsense here, it did NOT return any inspectors on two attempts and also for charlotte.

It DOES work now, no kidding either.

When you enter the city and state into inspectornow.com you must
abbreviate the state (example Texas should be entered TX) or it
will not work.

It would be better if the search function could work with abbreviations
and with the state spelled out. Right now it only works with abbreviations.
