Foley was going to turn over a new leaf when he got to the bottom of the page, Clinton smoked a joint but did not inhale, and he definitely did not "have sex with that woman," and Nixon was not a crook. And that's the scholarship of the luminous detail. Goodnight and good luck.

George - it wasn't a left wing perspective I was speaking from. I was speaking as a former campaign manager. Politicians (of both parties) are not so tone deaf that they would intentionally insult the troops in a public forum. It just does not happen.

If you honestly believe that a politician (also a vet) with decades of experience knowingly made an insulting comment about the troops' collective intelligence 2 weeks before an election, then you would be the fool.

Politics are calculated as much as possible. Kerry frequently targets Bush in speeches and often takes shots at his intelligence. This was another intented comment on Bush. That some people choose to see it as a shot at the troops is a result of a personal animus against Kerry.

I have yet to find a fair minded registered Independant who sees the comment as an intentional shot at the troops.

If you want to talk to a real American war hero, talk to NACHI's own John Bowman, and see what wounds merit the Purple Heart. PS Having listened to Kerry's wife, he must be some sort of a hero, just not a war hero.
John Kerry can go to hell.
By TODD VENEZIA in N.Y. and IAN BISHOP in Washington
Quotes from the New York Post.

November 2, 2006 -- CONTINUED

Kerry's belated mea culpa, issued at 4:24 p.m., came after Democratic candidates in Iowa, Minnesota and Pennsylvania refused to campaign with him - and Republicans made him the centerpiece of their stump speeches.

After the initial criticism Tuesday, Kerry had defiantly defended his remarks, saying he "apologized to no one" and ripping the Bush White House.

Kerry told nationally syndicated radio host Don Imus yesterday morning that he was only "sorry about a botched joke. You think I love botched jokes? I mean, you know, it's pretty stupid."

Excerpt from the New York Post: http://www.nypost.com/seven/11032006..._y_.htm?page=3
Kerry has been lying low since making the comment, canceling appearances such as one to the home state of the sign-writing soldiers.

He apologized Wednesday after being blasted even by members of his own party.

He said his remark was a "botched joke" in which he meant to call Bush - not soldiers - uneducated.

But it emerged yesterday that Kerry has made similar comments in the past.

When he ran for Congress in 1972, he said he was against an all-volunteer Army - like the one we have now - because it would be full of lowlife thugs who would be more likely to be involved in "war crimes."
Quote:
"I am convinced a volunteer Army would be an Army of the poor and the black and the brown," Kerry wrote in a candidate questionnaire to a Massachusetts peace group.
"We must not repeat the travesty of the inequities present during Vietnam. I also fear having a professional Army that views the perpetuation of war crimes as simply 'doing its job.' " End Quote:

James, This is just one of a long line of insults that John Kerry has directed at our troops. To say that this was one “isolated” so-called joke is a great insult to our intelligence.

John Kerry is his own worst enemy. His bull sh-t apology does not erase the words, or the very clear meaning that came out of this punk's mouth.

His bull sh-t apology does not negate the fact that his slanderous comment was DIRECTED SPECIFICALLY to our sons, our daughters, our nieces, our nephews, our family members, and friends who are OUR service men and women and are serving in Iraq.

I agree with you, and my nephew who is stationed at Camp Falcon just south of Baghdad and everyone who he has spoken to agrees with you.

This punk and all of his apologists can go straight to hell!

Yes, and it's important to keep a limited number of them around so we can always recognize them for what they are.

In my opinion Kerry did make a mistake saying what he said. But also in my opinion our president has made far worse mistakes and basically every time he opens his mouth he lowers his popularity score.

Cheryl.

You make an a non specific allegation regarding president Bush.

What "mistakes" has he made in you opinion??

Bush may not be an eloquent public speaker but he is certainly a passionate individual who leaves little doubt as to what he thinks and believes. We need more men like him, not fewer.

Abraham Lincoln, during his tenure, had the lowest popularity rating imaginable.

Being a great leader, sometimes, requires the courage to do what is right as opposed to what is popular.

Popular presidents can leave DNA evidence on cocktail dresses, but can do little else of lasting significance.

And yet, years later, conservatives will continue to blame him for every one of societys ills.

However, I do believe that squandering the goodwill of an entire planet is something of lasting significance. So in that, you are absolutely correct.
