If you're doing home inspections anywhere, I'd recommend HomeGauge for the infinite customization, ease of learning. tutorials, pictures next to commentary, support, report uploading, message board, etc, etc.

I strongly endorse InspectVue Residential and Commercial. For the money nothing protects you and your business ventures more. The 24/7 support is tremendous, and they go out of their way to educate and train on the usage of the reporting systems.

OK Jeff,
Is Inspectvue by far the best? If so, how can Home Gauge be a close second??

Good question that (IMHO) deserves an answer.

PV and HG are heads and shoulders above any of their competition, making the two of them the best "by far." PV, in my opinion, was just better. It's been a year or so since I previewed HG, so I don't remember exactly where the extra boost for PV came from, but it was enough for me to shell out the $$.

Mario - as I stated, I've sampled (and beta tested) many different software packages. Most of which, are very popular among North American Home Inspectors, and a few that never made it to market.

Inspectvue is great "right out of the box," and can be customized to do just about anything. The only other software comparable, is Homegauge.

Is this my "opinion"? Of course it is. It is also my "experience." Both of which, I share freely
Hi to all,

I have to agree with Jeffs comments both Homegauge and Porter Valley are world class products and have terrific people behind them.

I have used Homegauge for a long time, and have recently moved to Porter Valley because of their Commercial product which is stunning, and the residential product will soon be off the same engine.

Software is a tough call and how good it is depends on how your mind works heres my top 4 which inspector should look at when evaluating what works for them:

Residential:
Porter Valley InspectVue (great comments Library, great support)
Homegauge (Good solid product, great people)
3D (the first in the business, lots of history)
Palmtech (been around a long time, recent changes I like)

Commercial:
Porter Valley (hands down the tool for the job)

BTW my commercial courses are based in PV so I have to delare an interest.

Regards

Gerry
