Curt,

No, I do not use Home-Gauge software. I designed my own 3-part forms and I do my reports on-site.

If you're definitely going to attend that specific Building Science class, I'll put my money up next week to reserve my spot and we can chat for 4 days. I can show you how simple it is to design your own reporting system while you are here. Let's do it.

Did you purchase your camera yet?

The training facility is only 15/20 minutes away, for me.

If I bought a BCAM for $5800 and kept it in excellent condition, and if for some reason I had to sell the Camera 6 months later, what kind of price could I expect to sell it for? After a year?

David,
I use home gauge now and like it. I am going to see what my brother is up to (new baby for him) and confirm he is OK with his older brother knocking around his house for a week. Love to spend some time together if I do make it. Its about timing right now. We go on vacation in November, Disney..no lines to speak of and its COOLER! Give me a week or so and I can confirm then if thats OK.

Oh on buying the camera- Not yet but as I get closer I will. I am going with a FLIR BCam SD and I want to see some more reviews and see if any issues pop up. The cost is past my threshold of pain for making a mistake on model ect.

Curt

I have seen more than one BCAM sold on ebay that was less than
a year old, and they sold them for approx. $4000 to $4800.

If I even had the remote thought that I might have to sell would not make the purchase to begin with. Cannot get the cost of training back.

The Infracam is the same as the BCam but in addition covers a higher temp range. They have some good prices on higher end cameras from Mikron too.

I'll pay you pawn shop pricing "dime on a dollar"

Or you could go this route, he's already over $1000.00 off new, but you know what they say about things being too good to be true

His link to learn more takes you to http://www.flirthermography.com/cameras/camera/1106/ which shows the BCAM SD.

Ron, what do you know about the INFRACAMS?

Same as BCams except they image up to 350 degrees C instead of 100 C for the BCams. I think they do not have the dew point feature or the R value calculator of the BCam. The list price is the same as the BCams. And they are red instead of yellow.

Subject: Will Decker's Class

I took Will Decker's Thermal Imaging course last night. It was awesome!

Great overview of the art and science of thermal imaging. Will packed a lot into a three-hour class...

Just a ton of material.

I've been in NACHI for almost a year now, and I can't believe the astonishing value of my membership. Last night, for thirty bucks, I got three Illinois CEUs, an IR class, a marketing seminar, a physics lesson, a home inspection class, and a delicious three-course meal.

When it was all over, our WiNachi hosts showered us with door prizes. UNBELIEVABLE! YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT ANYWHERE!!!

Afterwards, Will spent an extra hour shooting the breeze with me and another inspector, telling us even more about how it works, giving us advice and encouragement for surviving (and thriving) in this difficult market.

Thanks, Nick, for putting together this amazing organization. I'm proud to be a part of it.

Sincerely,

Tom Jansson
