I am not on the list under the Navy and Marine Corps medal. Therefore, I can conclude that the wikipedia lists are incomplete at best.

Read the disclaimer on the worthless wikipedia page:
Quote:
This is a list of people with Wikipedia articles who have been recipients of the United States military decoration, the Silver Star medal, for heroism. It is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of past recipients.

John O, the Purple Heart, Medal of Honor, and the POW Medal categories are not complete. One of the most respected Marines (I didn't know I actually respected Marines I ever served with was Major Joe Small who was shot down during Desert Storm and held POW and his POW uniform as well as some other items of his are on display at the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, FL; is not listed on their lists either.

In order to preserve honor:

Quote:
The Stolen Valor Act of 2005 (the Act), signed into law by President George W. Bush on December 20, 2006,[1] is a U.S. law that broadens the provisions of previous U.S. law addressing the unauthorized wearing, manufacture or selling of military decorations and medals. It is a federal offense which carries a punishment of prison time and/or a fine; the scope previously covered only the Medal of Honor.
The Act was first introduced into the United States Congress's House of Representatives on July 19, 2005 by Representative John Salazar, a Democrat from Colorado, as H.R. 3352.[2][3] It was introduced into the Senate by Senator Kent Conrad, a Democrat from North Dakota, on November 10, 2005 as S. 1998.[4][5] The Senate version was passed unanimously on September 7, 2006.[5][6] The Senate version then went to the same House Judiciary Committee that held the House version. The Act briefly stalled, but the House subsequently passed the Senate version, S. 1998, on December 6, 2006.[7]
The purpose of the Act is to strengthen the provisions of 18 U.S.C. § 704 by broadening its scope and strengthening penalties. Specific new provisions in the Act include: granting more authority to Federal law enforcement officers, extending scope beyond the Medal of Honor, broadening the law to cover false claims whereas previously an overt act had to be committed, covering mailing and shipping of medals, and protecting the reputation and meaning of military heroism medals.[3][5]
The need for the Act came about because of large numbers of fake military heroes in the United States. For example, as of June 2, 2006 there were only 120 living Medal of Honor recipients, but there were far more known imposters.[8][9][10] There are also large numbers of fake Navy SEALS[11][12] and Army Special Forces,[13] among others.

I agree with Henry, this thread is out of line. Nothing but a tool to take cheap shots at someone under false pretenses. No one has to prove anything or answer to anyone else at Nachi.

John Bowman's credentials are 100% legitimate and real. I won't explain how I know. Take my word for what it is worth to you.

Henry,

As a Canadian, and reviewing the original post and reading through the rest of it, you are right. Its an insult and in bad taste. I further agree the noble thing to do is have the thread deleted.

Hank -

I hope you choose to stay, you are a valuable resource to NACHI, and I'd like to think that one individual is not strong enough to run you off. We can only continue to grow stronger and better by staying and fighting.

No group has insulted veterans, certainly NACHI hasn't. How is his membership in NACHI or NACHI involved? I think I'm missing something. My comment (post #25) was made by me personally. Why would someone quit NACHI over it. I'm just saying what I know to be true. Don't believe me if you don't want to. I couldn't care less.

Nick -

I think Hank posted a request on the Ethics forum asking to have this thread deleted. I assume his request was denied and thus he is making a stand.

I personally believe it's the wrong stand, and I hope he changes his mind as we need more like him, not less.
