I just love all the people who post and would rather see, describe and subscribe to all these elaborate conspirency theories rather than actually get educated about the facts and think. If you look at how the news (mainstream) and some politicians carefully select their words, these things are clear: They say, "Anti-Immigrent" when the reality is anti-illegal immigrent. They say, "Big oil" when the reality is American corporation, mostly owned by American shareholders and making about 8 cents a gallon (gross, not net) per gallon of gas when the federal government (not counting state, county and local taxes) is making 18 cents per gallon. By way of comparision, electronics companies make 12 - 14 cents gross profit. They say, "The life and health of the mother" when the reality is that "health" has also been defined to include "metal health" so that is a woman wants an abortion because she will get "depressed" if she does not, then she can get an abortion. They say, "windfall profits" when the reality is that the oil company profits are not exhorbitant. They switch, back and forth, between percentages and total dollars, whichever helps their arguement most. The honest way is to choose one metric and stick with it. But, it is hard, and takes some thinking and research, to find the truth. Seems to me both sides are masters of deception and forked tongue Will.
They call it spin. The key is trying to read between the lies. Are there conspiracies. (yes) Seems I recall a man named Nixon. Guess we should assume the CIA never lied about anything. Guess cops never carry a spare gun to plant on bodies. Guess there is no such thing as the Mafia.(you live near Chicago Right) The real key is to seperate fact from fantasy and good old King George JR is living in a real fantasy world. |

Facts: http://energy.ca.gov/gasoline/margins/index.html From the California government web site. It shows the figures for California gas, which has some of the highest prices in the nation, and some of the highest costs. Do you see the coorelation? Oil company profits: 8 cents/gal. Government "confiscation" (i.e., taxes): 70 cents Seeing the look on Joe's face when he tries to debunk this: Priceless. Obama and The Don't Drill Democrats To America: Don't Drive. Just Shut Up and Sweat In Your Dark House.
When Barack Obama told a Pennsylvania audience this past weekend that "We can't drill our way out of this," he was repeating the same line that Nancy Pelosi used days earlier and that Harry Reid used on Wednesday. The Big Three Democrats are thus all agreed that their party has given up on bringing down the cost of oil and thus the cost of gas at the pump. Because demand for oil isn't going to drop due to growth around the globe, the only way to bring the cost of a gallon of gas at the pump down is to increase the supply of oil. The only way to increase the supply of oil for the present is to explore for more oil and then bring it to market. That means drilling. In the U.S. that means drilling on the outer continental shelf, more than 50 miles from the nearest coastline. .................. The DDDs have three talking points: Exploration won't bring down the cost of gas very much. There isn't that much oil to find. And oil companies aren't using their existing leases anyway. Both arguments reveal the DDDs as either ignorant or dishonest. Are there perhaps other domestic areas that we can get oil from also? |

Guess without exploration, we'll just have to take their word for it. The unused leases do bother me. |

The Drill Vote By INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Thursday, June 19, 2008 4:20 PM PT Public Opinion: A silent transformation of the political landscape has taken place that spells trouble for Democrats this election year. With no end in sight to high fuel prices, voters want the one real solution: drill for oil. Read More: Election 2008 | Energy Democrats bet wrong on Iraq and now it's becoming clear they've made a second bad wager. They thought America was getting greener and that all their dreamy visions of an economy running on windmills, solar panels and corn-fed cars would make them be seen as the good guys. Costly gasoline would be viewed as the evil work of profit-gorged, conspiratorial oil executives, from whom only a Democratic president and Congress could save America. It turns out that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and the rest of the left beholden to environmentalist special interests are finding Americans to be a lot harder to fool than they thought. The green that consumers are most concerned with is the hard-earned cash lost while filling up because of an ideologically-driven energy policy that denies reality. Instead of viewing more domestic drilling and the construction of new refineries as ways in which the oilmen can pollute as they line their pockets, a substantial majority now want these measures implemented. A Reuters/Zogby poll this week found an impressive 59.6% of Americans favor measures to increase drilling and refining. President Bush tapped into this new sentiment to utilize our own energy resources by calling on Congress to increase access to the Outer Continental Shelf.
