Joe,
Funny thing is... I like Obama. However, continuing the ban is NOT "Change I can believe in". I don't like the ban on drilling. Off shore - ANWAR - Shale - lets get it all, and while it will not be a quick fix - it will help in the future. As far as flip-flops - In 1999 gas was probably $1.25 a gallon (or thereabouts) - If we had been drilling then perhaps we would not be headed toward $5. Was the ban a mistake - yes. Is continuing the ban a mistake - yes. Can we learn from past mistakes - I hope so. I'm sure many people have changed their minds about many things in 9 years, I know I have. I can forgive someone for that - perhaps we have become wiser. </IMG> |

Need to do something now?
Something that will have an effect? Quit using so much energy! Been on a plane ride lately? What are all those street lights on for? Make the roads safer? They lit up a divided 4 lane parkway in my city that was dubbed the most dangerous road in the state due to the number of accidents. It was divided, it was flat, it was straight... it went to the damn mall! That's why it is not safe! Been by a public school in the am or pm? Ever sit in a school zone for 20 min due to traffic in and out of the school? How much gas does it take to drive one kid to school in a V-8 SUV (sitting in traffic it causes)? Ever notice the lack of traffic in the am when school is out? What's wrong with the bus (which we can't afford to fund)? Teach your kid to waste as much energy as they can. Convenience is much more important. Why are there 3-way and 4-way stop signs in subdivisions with roads that go nowhere? Why does a cul-de-sac need a 3-way stop? Why are burger joints open 24/7? So we have someplace to drive to in the middle of the night I guess. How can they afford staying open selling $.99 burgers? CONVENIENCE! We need to learn to do without a little before we are forced to do without a lot. Last edited by dandersen; 6/18/08 at 1:15 PM.. |

A new development is taking place right now which may help solve the crisis in the near future.
A plant which can grow under drought conditions and produces 10 times more fuel than corn. |

We have more oil in the Shale, than there is in Saudi Arabia, but when we studied extracting it, Opec dropped the price so low as to make it unfeasible, to do so. Wake up people, all we have to do is mention that we are going to become energy independant, and Opec and the Speclulators will drop prices. Go watch the Futures market and you will see how they operate, they use every excuse to jack up the prices, so their bosses can make a very quick and good profit. If the Israeli Prime Minister sneezes, oil goes up ten bucks a barrel. Watch what the current floods does to the futures market prices. Think about it, if someone has something you have to have to survive, they know they have you over a barrel, and will bleed you dry. Am I the only one who remembers the threats made by Hugo and Iran's idiot president, about what they were going to do to our economy?

Stupid Government Fact.
What is the strategic oil reserve? It is series of individual caverns within a site, where the US buys oil and pumps into the GROUND. WTF? This is an example stupid people making stupid decisions. (ourselves included, look who we made the lead dem candidate). Don't we already have oil sitting in the ground for FREE!!!!!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strateg...roleum_Reserve tom P.S. Wait till our taxes are raised for the Sun Light Reserve. Massive mirrors will be built to rebounce light into space for later use. |
