Agreed, all this plan does it remove the liability for the American stock holders (our pension & insurance funds) and moves it to the tax payers.

What a deal

Chris Whalen was on cnbc this morning. He is right on target for what needs to happen. WAMU is a perfect example of what needs to take place. No bailout for Wall Street. Keep the government out of the management asset business.

I likey Mikey, but is it real or is it just a political delaying tactic which would allow McCain to ride in from his suspended campaign to save the day? Here is the litmus test. We already know that McCain is in favor of Paulson's bailout plan, if the majority of Republican Senators hold out and refuse to pass this financial boondoggle against the pleas of their candidate John McCain then they have truly represented the people and should be commended, especially if this bill dies.

On the other hand, if the Republicans do an about face when McCain finally gets his act together we will know there was no sincerity for the people's wishes and it was simply political stunt with business as usual.

The Republicans are on the verge of gaining back some of the creditability & respect lost under the Bush administration. Hopefully they will continue to hold out as more & more information regarding this spendthrift plan is unveiled and made public. As for me, I am still skeptical that house & senate Republicans will go against both Bush & John McCain, but please make me a believer.

Everyone in Washington is very scarred so I think a deal will get done.

Hopefully a deal will include some provisions that somehow remain faithful to a capitalist model rather than a socialist one. No easy answers I'm afraid.

They have done a piss poor job of explaining this to the general public to get their support.

Most everyone feels a gun at their back and a hand in their pocket.

This idea sounds just crazy enough to possibly work, so naturally it won't be given serious consideration. How great is our bureaucracy!!

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.

So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.

A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college - it'll be there

Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car - create jobs

Invest in the market - capital drives growth

Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( 'vote buy' ) economic incentive that is being proposed
by one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.

Sell off its parts.

Let American General go back to being American General.

Sell off the real estate.

Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.

Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.'

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion

We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC

And remember, The plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Replace the word Bail with Loan plus a few percetage points! Regulate to a point because wall street will eventually out smart our government anyway! Bring the corporate tax rate to say, Irelands, or even Switzerland. This is a drop of around 15% or so. I know you are thinking I am a dem why in the he!! would I want to cut taxes on those greedy bad guys. Well one reason is it would be a temporary thing and can gradually go back up in time. It will flood the market in cash and trade. It will regenerate the sluggish production of our goods. Quit borrowing "robbing Peter to pay Paul" or something like that! Get rid of the stupid pork in all the bills and even take back the money in bills with pork that have not been distributed yet (just don't release it)! Drill, Drill, Drill right now! To me this will help in the short term and long term. In the mean time dump anyone in DC that forgets about the people who are paying for this country....us! Theres more to be done I know but I think this will.

Alright...this was a forward...I didn't check the math. It works out to 425 bucks. Next time I get one of these I'll be sure to do the math myself. Y'all chill now.
This came from one of my associates while I was reading this thread.
We caught it too! Sorry!

Yep!

We are second to only Japan! We were number one at one point!

Your second statement is a well kept secret! Quite confusing to folks! Another problem in DC (confusing people)

Heard Newt talk about taxes last night and thought that makes good sense! But I think we do many things now instead of one just like we should for gas, electric, etc. But do it now!

My point is, and I am sure some will agree, that instead of being stuck in a box and a one item fix is going to do the trick I think we should implement many things at one time. Lots of good ideas out there but a very closed minded government bodies!
