My power bill is $100/month and I stay warm and toasty! I never understood why people settled cold weather climates...my forefathers were of superior intelligence I guess.

I don't turn it on till it get's above 90 and often turn it off at night. (My wife must really love me.) Older home in the shade with high ceilings. I don't think I've ever had a power bill > $150 in my life. I've very stingy.
Full disclosure: I heat with a wood boiler. “The things that will destroy America are peace at any price, prosperity at any cost, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.” Theodore Roosevelt Joe Funderburk, CMI Alpha & Omega Home Inspections, LLC Inspecting Upstate SC & Charlotte Metro, NC NACHI ID: NACHI05120170 www.aohomeinspection.com |

Our last house was a 2000 sqft four square heated with electric baseboard and cost around $600 month. Three years later we had sears install a new boiler $6000.00 I thought yeah baby our heat bills will go down. They did alright down to around $500.
Now we have a small 1200 sqft beach cottage and it cost only around $100 - $150 to heat. But we set the heat at 75 in the fall and don't touch it until spring INSPECTIONLOGOS.COM "I can keep explaining it for you, but I can't understand it for you". Nick G. Monroe Home Inspection |

All you need is a south facing home full of windows, and a ceiling fan. On cold, cloudy days, fire up the fireplace or the heat pump.
