But you must know they are there and fight them to stop them. In Georgia, for example, they made barely a peep as they got a bill all the way through the Senate. James H. Bushart Professional Building Analyst, BPI Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas 314-803-2167 |

Georgia has a very strong state association...GAHI...which requires each member to be ICC code certified. No coalition of ASHI members are going to carry more weight than them with the legislature. But they are trying. James H. Bushart Professional Building Analyst, BPI Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas 314-803-2167 |

James, with that said, you know very well the problems we face in NH with licensing, the practices you have mentioned will not work here, IMHO, in fact it has worked to our advantage.
Our state legislators are so sick and tired of this turf war they are turning a blind eye to both bills. I talked to two Senators who say they cannot support either bills as they are crafted. I also spoke at the senate hearing on the coalitions bill, which by the way was heard at the same time as the licensing of contractors. One thing that some of my colleges to comprehend is that NH will never pass a bill for licensing home inspectors that is more restrictive than the simple registration bill they passed for contractors. This I am glad because I do not favor any licensing right now and it appears that the one's that do will have something to gain from it, no matter which side your on. |

I agree with you and that strategy.
It matters little which bill is passed, for either of them will soon be amended and modified to ensure that neither side benefits. When choosing between any number of different bills, "no bill" is always the best option. Good luck keeping NH free from control by the special interests. Licensing solves nothing. James H. As a new inspector I would prefer to be trained in a class room by an experienced teacher that is experienced in home inspections, opposed to some real estate school owner, with non home inspector instructors, that collects information off the internet, and claims it is HI training with out any approval or review by members of our profession . What qualifies good or worthless CE. Who should decide that, and who should provide it? Does nicks on line quizzes and TP course help an inspector that was required to complete HI training to get a state lic? I think not Truth is inspectors are no different than realtors as far as the percentages of who gets the most inspections An inspector that does not take the initiative on his own to get quality CE will be long gone opposed to an inspector that gets every hour possible.. |
