Agreed. In regards to licensing legislature... Chaos is our friend & ally. You can rest assured that when everyone is in agreement the home inspector and the consumer are getting the ****ty end of the stick.

Unfortunately, I don't think that "all" have the best interests of the industry in mind, Roy, on either side of the issue.

Some do. Others, however, seem to have other agendas and --- again --- this is on both sides of the issue.

In your country, while wanting to present the illusion that their proposals are designed to enhance the industry ... you and many others know that their intentions are to advance their own schools and pass laws mandating attendance in them. They are still new at the game and are not as competent in disguising their motives as they are in our country where they have had decades of practice.

The guys who formed this make believe "coalition" out of St. Louis and Columbia are also pushing an agenda and creating a false illusion of "inspector unity" in favor of licensing that is designed to dupe the newer legislators who haven't been around the State Capital long enough to know better. They win points with the Missouri Association of Realtors in the process for their members with promises and hopes of having themselves appointed to the governing board that their bill(s) will create.

Even opposition folks have agendas for self gain as they position themselves for a "seat at the table" to negotiate for themselves as they pretend to represent others.

What is best for the profession, IMO, is resistance to those who choose to use the legislative process (both, in favor of and in opposition to) to replace marketing their own businesses to prosper.

You will see as we have in the US, after a few more of your provinces fall under control of the special interests who buy licensing laws from your legislators as they do ours, how the profession digresses under them. Kansas and Florida are the two most recent examples.

Are there pathetically inadequate home inspectors who are ruining lives with stupid reports that should never be provided to a home buyer throughout North America? Absolutely, but giving these guys licenses and spreading them out among the public to inflict themselves upon unsuspecting consumers with a false credential is not a solution. No licensing law ever implimented has resulted in increasing the quality of inspection or inspector according to practical observation as well as formal studies. Proponents of licensing bills know this ... but push them anyway for personal gain.

Opponents of licensing bills know this, too ... and, unfortunately, some are willing to sell out the profession if they can get themselves a little advantage with a "seat at the table" instead of taking the fight to the finish line. In this regard, both sides can pose a danger to the public.

Some guys have objected to my tactics over the years ... as I have objected to theirs. In the end, all that really matters is that the annual predictions that "This is the year that Missouri will be licensed" have not come to fruition, yet. That is what matters most to me no matter who takes the credit for it.

There are many activities behind the scenes that will never be published on this message board that have helped to see to that ... and I can only hope that they continue with the same result. At the very least, I plan to continue to do my part.

All of that would carry much more weight if you'd consent to letting him post the e-mails. Without that you just look like a politician with something to hide. You should consider image....
