JUST RECEIVED A REGISTERED LETTER FROM THE NY STATE DEPARTMENT OF STATE. APPARENTLY, SOMEONE POINTED TO WWW.NACHI.ORG AND STATED THAT NY LICENSED NACHI MEMBERS DO NOT INCLUDE THEIR LICENSE NUMBER ON THEIR LISTINGS ON THIS WEBSITE.

NY STATE LAW REQUIRES ALL INSPECTORS TO INCLUDE THEIR LICENSE NUMBER ON ALL FORMS OR CORRESPONDENCE AND MARKETING MATERIALS.

THIS INCLUDES BUSINESS CARDS, BROCHURES, YELLOW PAGE ADS, AND ALL INTERNET PRESENCES.

SO, START BY UPDATING YOUR NACHI LISTINGS, AND CONTINUE WITH ALL OTHER SITES WHERE YOU MAY BE LISTED.

THE INVESTIGATOR FROM NY WAS EXTREMELY PLEASANT AND HELPFUL. DO NOT BLAME HIM OR THEM! THE COMPLAINT CAME FROM BEYOND THEIR DEPARTMENT, AND POSSIBLY BEYOND OUR PROFESSION.

BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR LISTINGS TO INCLUDE YOUR LICENSE NUMBERS!

Well done Joe,
I have never seen the language in the law about internet presence, but all advertising is pretty clear. The question is, does the message board fall under any of the headings that require us to do this, it is an association site, after all. I believe this one could be argued, but you notice, I put mine on anyway, just in case.
