The problem is...after doing one of these inspections...an hour later...you feel like you have to do another.

Real Chinese Translations That Didn't Quite Work (Well Almost)

COKE:
The name Coca-Cola in China was first rendered as Ku-kou-ko-le. Unfortunately, the Coke company did not discover until after thousands of signs had been printed that the phrase means "Bite the wax tadpole" or "Female horse stuffed with wax" depending on the dialect.
Coke then researched 40,000 Chinese characters and found a close phonetic equivalent, "Ke-kou-ke-le," which can be loosely translated as "happiness in the mouth."

PEPSI:
In Taiwan, the translation of the Pepsi slogan "Come alive with the Pepsi Generation" came out as "Pepsi will bring your ancestors back from the dead."

KFC:
Also in Chinese, the Kentucky Fried Chicken slogan "Finger- lickin' good" came out as "Eat your fingers off."

Home Inspection:
The once popular phrase “We Speak House” translated as “I laugh at your house from my grave”, today in China they just say… NACHI.

Thanks Paul, I forgot about the cap on membership.
But hey, there are so many other things beyond membership that could happen in this gigantic emerging economy...

The 10,000 cap is and always has been only on N. American members (the sum of U.S. and Canada) as we already have 31,000 members worldwide.

Wendy, explain how that is a "catch." The cap has not changed.
