Subject: [Possible Spam] CONSTRUCTION RELATED BILL TO BE SIGNED BY GOVERNOR

EMERGENCY NOTICE TO THE FLORIDA CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY!
Senate Bill 2234 has been sent to Governor Christ for his signature this week! The bill creates new categories under Florida Statutes for home inspectors, mold assessors and mold remediators. This bill REVOKES and DIMINISHES many of the abilities and rights that state certified/registered contractors, licensed building inspectors and licensed architects/engineers have regarding performance of these services!
Governor Christ’s office has asked all opposed to immediately contact his office.
For a complete overview and a link where you must IMMEDIATELY contact the governor (if you are so inclined) click on the following link: www.contractorsinstitute.com/emergency

Looks like the contractors hate us and want the bill killed so they can get us all off the street and have the whole pie.

Some how I don't think that their logic is going to help kill the bill

I am glad that they are also trying

I am sending more emails again

We are down to the wire on this one

I think that, if the Governor is actually soliciting negative comments about the bill, he is leaning toward a veto. This is really good news, if true.

Time to pour it on like never before....

Hi to all:

The latest letter was in reaction to information I got put on the Governor's Desk. I have been in contact with several groups outside of the HI industry.

Robert Koning participated in the 2006 legislative sessions I attended with the DBPR. This letter to action wil go a long way.

Jay

Too bad he hates us so much

Did you go to their web site and read their complete position on this??

Also I think he has some miss information on some of the bill's facts

But this is not a problem as long as he see that in general this bill is bad for both professions

Look like it is really bad for the contractors

A couple of months ago I asked the engineering board anf the florida engineering society their opinnion of the bill. I did not get and answer. However, when engineers (myself included) think that the bill will jeopardize the services they can provide, they would most likely lobby against the bill. Hopefully the bill won't pass as it is flawed. I can argue I already meet the credit hours just because I am an engineer. The bill does not define educational standards.

Reference Doug Wall:

Guys - I do work in the same area as Doug Wall and Jon Cosgrove and I think they offended without meaning too. These guys are great to deal with, never step on toes and are willing to help ANYONE.

How do you feel about super incompetent home inspectors? Well now picture these home inspectors doing mold testing. He is just standing up for his profession, just as we would. He has never talked ill about PROFESSIONALS in his area. If you do you job and do it well he will admit it to anyone even if it means losing a job to someone else. He may have stereotyped Home Inspectors, but in this area......WOW, there are a few good ones and a WHOLE BUNCH of crap and I think he was talking about the CRAP out there. He thinks as I do. I do not mind having a licensing board and needing to regulate these professions, just lets do it the right way.

I've been told by an ASHI member that the Bill now includes wording which eludes to Grand Fathering in of Home Inspectors already practicing here in Florida.

Any one heard that - or SEEN it in writing??

Zoe, I believe that is incorrect, there was a glitch bill filed last session that did include a grandfathering clause, but it got burried in committees and never went anywhere.

Gerry

There is no grandfathering except for mold.

Credentials all even steven now. Florida is about to start the big home inspector marketing race. Best marketers win.
