William, we have the proctored exam in place in FL should we need it. See www.FloridaInterNACHI.org

We need to still wait until the Department makes its final decisions though.

Thank you Greg,
I have been contacted by an insurance claims company to potentially perform some of these inspections. However I have not been able to get to the bottom of what the exact designation requirements are. I have heard both ICC certification and general contractor's license in the state of Florida... I'm also preparing to possibly move to the state of Florida. I will be traveling to Naples Florida next week and would love to take advantage of that opportunity to maybe get some ducks in a row while I'm there.
Can you enlighten me on this?
Thank you Greg

Doug -

So if i am reading your email correctly, licensed home inspectors can sign wind mitigation inspections? If this is the case, then that is great for those of us who have been fighting this battle all along.

Thank you for keeping us all updated.

Yep, I saw it. Soon there won't be any money in them at all. Great job Gov. You all will all be able to get a share of the $19.99 wind mitigation inspections. I will bet most everyone will give them away with their home inspection. Congrats to you all. Enjoy it when you can and I am sure there won't be about 10 times the competition there is now. I am sure it will be very hard to pass the 2 1/2 test that is required to become a Licensed Home Inspector. What is that about a 1/4 of the test Architects, Engineers , and General Contractors have to take. Save your money while you still have some and welcome to the recession.

I believe that HB 663 also states that general contractors cannot work on the homes they inspect for a period of one year.

To: All Interested Parties,

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Home Inspectors'/Mold Related Services Licensing Programs has received your comments/suggestions from the May 5, 2010 rules workshop. We greatly appreciate your assistance as we develop the guidelines and policies for licensing and regulation of these new professions.
On May 26, 2010, the Governor signed House Bill 713 into law making revisions that will affect the definition of the term “home inspection”, exam requirements, criminal history checks, fees, unlicensed activity, and Grandfathering in addition to other changes. The licensing staff has analyzed hundreds of emails in response to the workshop and incorporated relevant changes to the rules. We are now ready to move forward with the approval process. After the department has finalized its approval, the language will be made public as part of the rulemaking process.
The department staff continues to be impressed with the amount of concern for the public and offers of assistance in dealing with these new areas of licensure. Your participation has greatly helped shape the rules for the professions and will assist in protecting the health, safety and welfare of the public.
Again, thank you very much for your participation and support.
Sincerely,
Rick Morrison, Executive Director

With this proctored exam where does the $100.00 go to have exam "officially proctored"?

Q: Where can I take InterNACHI's Inspector Exam (proctored version)?
A: You can schedule it by contacting Zoe Fackler at flnachi@verizon.net. Take the free, online version for practice (there are nearly 7 trillion different versions, so each one is different). The exam is free, but it costs $100 to have it officially proctored.
