No I didn't. I explained that several states ordered us to open up our approved education to non-members, but that we could charge fees to non-members. The fees go to InterNACHI which uses the money to fund www.nachi.org/benefits.htm and so members are profiting from non-members. I couldn't be happier.

Uh, no. ASTM authors many good standards but their commercial SOP can't be compared to our www.nachi.org/comsop.htm They have a long way to go with regard to Commercial Property Inspection SOPs.

Let's see....InterNACHI consists of three people. You, the Chairman, and two other members....Ferry and Morrell.

I wonder which "InterNACHI" gets the money.....

Why is it that the most respected teachers of commercial inspections, two of which are members of your very own association, refuse to promote the use your standards in teaching their commercial inspection class?

You have unjustly inflated the value of your product again, it seems.

It's like a Keith Swift book..hardly anyone is willing to buy one, but they love to get a case of them in the mail for free.

If you want to provide repair estimates, use ASTM's standards.

If you want to inspect commercial properties use www.nachi.org/comsop.htm

Dr. Swift's book is on its 3rd print run (60,000 copies). You only have to sell 25,000 copies to be a "Best Seller."

Selling and giving something away by the case......not the same thing.

Anyway, I have allowed you to spin this away from the main focus far enough. This thread...and the subsequent posts....has to do with you dealings in Kansas.

Let's get back to that.

Oh, yes. You get their money, too. So what?

I don't get any of it. I even pay my own travel expenses. InterNACHI doesn't get it either. The money collected in dues simply passes through InterNACHI (a non-profit, federally tax-exempt organization) and into member's pockets in the form of www.nachi.org/benefits.htm

What about the money strong armed from vendors by Peter Tafeen? What about the kickbacks from vendors who agree to do so in order to be preferred vendors on NACHI's concierge list? Did you exclude this for a reason by limiting your response to "dues"?

Oh...and let's not forget the money collected from the alleged "free" education that non-members pay for through the state CEU programs.....

All this goes to pay for the Free Yellow Page Ads you say that you give every member in your list of "benefits"....right?

Really, narrow minded, this is not a National Poll or agenda, this is strictly a regional issue and like I said it before, find me 10% of the Kansas Nachi inspectors that are supporting this current issue. So yes, the narrow minded inspectors of Kansas have been asking for Nachi help. All we are getting is double speak, chest thumping and a blow up fish. The inspectors of Mo. have seen what has happened, they know what the real score is and are trying to head off a similar attempt in that State. So you can get off of your national soap box, sell your training program and give away memberships as a freebie. This is an issue of our local business, livelihoods and future, so yes the few, because that's what we arein relation to National, have an agenda.
Exactly... you prove my point.

Nick has bigger considerations and has to respond to issues based
on larger considerations than what each local group might demand
of him, even though they might get mad at him.

Thanks.

Jim, ALL money, including the money that non-members pay to access our CE (not just dues) goes to InterNACHI which pays for InterNACHI member benefits www.nachi.org/benefits.htm

Furthermore, once that 20% was truly educated regarding the failure of home inspector licensing most of those inspectors (except of course those inspectors who are earning money through home inspection licensing) would move to the anti-licensing ranks.

Home inspector licensing can not and will not ever provide a cure to the problems within our profession, it can't it is simply not designed as a remedy. Asking home inspector licensing to aid our profession is equivalent to attempting to bake bread with a bicycle or shingle a roof with horseshoes.
Some laws are good and some are not. What might be and what
is will always be debated. Next point.
