All in business when the bill was signed into law should be grandfathered.

Mark Cramer doing a great job again re-stating what I've always said that "Home inspectors are better suited to do mold assessments than environmental professionals"

I agree. To do a proper mold inspection one has to look at the home holistically and understand plumbing leaks, roof leaks, moisture intrusion, ventilation, HVAC, condensation, grade issues, etc... not just take a mold sample.

Mark's testimony supports www.IAC2.org 's policy of requiring applicants to first become members of InterNACHI.

Some expressing that they know that IAC2 procured the insurance required by the law, but are complaining that non-InterNACHI members can't join IAC2 and so can't get the insurance.

Some warning the department that insurance will be difficult to get.

So many different indoor air associations with so many vowels. Reminds me of the song "Old McDonald had a farm, E I E I O."

Department explaining that there really isn't a grandfathering provision in the mold law. It is more of a "grace period" to get licensed. Different than grandfathering.

I count only 44 people in the mold portion of the meeting. 200 attended the home inspection meeting.

Harvey Gordon just spoke in support of grandfathering.

Skye Tec lobbyist speaking. Reminding all the no law is perfect. And that the 10 square foot exemption allows home inspectors to avoid getting a mold assessor's license.

The 10 sq ft exemp. will not allow a HI to hold him self out to the public as being legally allowed to look for mold during an inspection.
It will only allow the HI to write up small areas if he sees them and advise on proper removal of less than 10 sgft.

The problem now is that FL is running a 2.6 billion dollar deficit.

There was a great turnout at the meeting today. It was great seeing all of the inspectors that I haven't seen in sometime and meeting many new inspectors. I think they may have let the cat out of the bag during the PP presentation. One of the new requirements they listed is not in the current legislation. That makes me wonder how many other requirements have been decided before the stakeholder meetings.

One of the speakers (inspector) stated that he or anyone else could go to district court and file a legal paper (sorry don't remember the name) to force the state to enforce the law or repel it. I noticed that he raised the eyebrows of the members of the DBPR when he spoke of that.

It appeared that all of the inspectors in attendance pretty much agreed on grandfathering.

I noticed that the DBPR representatives mentioned proctoring several times during the discussion about exams.

Many inspectors asked me about the Central Florida Chapter. After seeing all of the interest I am going to work this week on setting something up within the next month. If Colorado gets enough snow we might even get Nick to attend.

I want to give a big thank you to Nick for taking the time to attend each meeting in support of all NACHI members.

It was great seeing Harvey again.

In Florida if you use your name, IE... "Kenneth Townsend Home Inspections" you don't have to file a fictitious name notice.

I disagree, I think all home inspectors in business when the law goes into effect should be grandfathered. Or an alternative is 1 year prior July 1 2009.

That wouldn't be because you were not in business in 2007 would it?

I am going to make a prediction. I believe that anyone that is a full member of any organization is going to be grandfathered.
