Kansas ASHI (Bowers and Lauhon) have their classes approved. No surprise, there.

Jim Bushart -

Thanks for informing us of this. I had not seen anything yet regarding our application so I was glad you kept me in the loop. Also please if you would be so kind in the future please put a parentheses behind my name and say something like (Kansas/Missouri/United States iNACHI, ASHI & NAHI).

Also I'm feeling left out. Once I saw youse guys posts I went on the KS Inspectors Web Site / Saw what youse was referring to / THEN saw the next TAB down which had the APPROVED CE PROVIDERS in Kansas listed, and noticed interNACHI listed there as an ACCEPTED PROVIDER, but those of us on the PRE-ENTRY licensing provider list were left off.

Youse been cutting some side deals or what ..............

Read the BELOW post from the Kansas Inspectors web site.

Approved Continuing Education Courses

The Kansas Home Inspectors Registration Board recognizes the following institutions as having requirements for approving education courses which meets the requirements established by the Board in K.S.A. 130-5-1. The Board therefore shall provide advance approval for all courses provided by any vendor which has been approved by:

American Society of Home Inspectors
interNational Association of Certified Home Inspectors
National Association of Home Inspectors

The Board does however reserve the right to resend this approval if it feels a particular course or vendor fall outside the requirements established by the Board.

Nick was told months ago that NACHI CEUs are acceptable.

Barnes has arbitrarily denied NACHI approval for pre-licensing courses. For this, each member of the board is likely to be sued, individually, the last I heard. They can thank their leader for their legal expenses.

Jim -

As you know the Kansas ED Committee was pulled out of the review process 1-2 weeks ago and never saw who applied, etc. If I understand the process now, only the KHIRB office (the accountants office) in Topeka or maybe the Board would have seen that.

Just curious - The formal application forms, etc were only posted and available on the Kansas Inspectors Web Site about 2-3 weeks ago. So prior to that NOBODY could have applied to them. Did iNACHI fill out and file those specific application forms in the past 2-3 weeks.

If so did they get any response at all??

If Nick's attorneys advise him to go public with anything at this time, I'm sure he will fill you in. Until then, the arbitrary decision made by the misled and misinformed members of the Kansas licensing board is looking to be a costly one for them, from what I hear.

NACHI has a pre-licensing course. Barnes lied and quoted the Board of Regents as requiring something that, according to the Board of Regents, they do not require. Molly may be digging out of trash cans for food in the days to come.

From the amended HB that the Governor signed:

Sec. 6. K.S.A. 2008 Supp. 58-4509 is hereby amended to read as follows: 58-4509.
(a) On and after January 1, 2010, all individuals performing home inspections as defined in K.S.A. 2008
Supp. 58-4502, and amendments thereto, shall be required to be registered by the board.
(b) All registrants must: . . . .

. . .
( have satisfied one of the following requirements:
(A) Have successfully completed and passed a course of study containing at least 80
hours of classroom and field training offered by an educational provider approved by the
board; or
(B) if the individual has been actively engaged in the practice of conducting home
inspections for not fewer than two year prior to the effective date of this act and have
completed not less than 50 fee-paid home inspections.
(emphasis added, but I didn't intend to add the cool smiley)

So it appears that the "brick and mortar" crap is actually required by law and obviously part of the intent of the legislators.

Not gonna happen! Nick got what he wanted and thats CEU's, Pre-licensing has never been a Nachi priority. Oh he may up the anti and start throwing spitballs instead of cottonballs, but they too have very little effect in the Kansas breeze.

InterNACHI offers classroom courses all over the world, our pre-licensing curriculum is second to none, we applied for pre-licensing approval and expect to have it soon.

We are pleased that all our courses were approved for continuing education.

Education committee member Dan Bowers writes:

I know. On January 21st I announced that Jeff Barnes fired the entire education committee. http://www.nachi.org/forum/f14/jeff-...morning-47155/ I was surprised to see some members denying that the committee had been fired. Buck Hartley even responded
Quote:
The committee has not been fired!!
I am pleased that Dan Bowers has confirmed my assertion today. Buck, if you are reading this, see Dan's quote:

Buck, again, your education committee can't review education. Jeff fired you. Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

Nick,

When did interNACHI formally apply pre-licensing?

Thanks

Twice. Once a long time ago before we knew there was going to be an application and once about 2 weeks ago when the application document was released. As you can imagine, some of our courses, when printed out, become a 4" stack of paper, and that is just one course. Our average course is over 40,000 words, graphics, pictures, diagrams, quizzes, exams, answer keys, etc. Times that by the many courses we have www.nachi.org/education.htm and you can imagine how much copier paper we've used up in Kansas!

I don't understand how Jeff Barnes can review it all himself now that (as Dan confirmed) he's fired the education committee.

So what was the reason Barnes has given for not making NACHI education provider with the other five education providers? What is the holdup?

Probably the sheer volume of what he now has to review all alone (now that he fired the education committee). On top of our pre-licensing course curriculum being so robust, we also publish companion textbooks for pre-licensing of home inspectors.

Nick, stick with it. I am also amazed how home inspection educational providers do not perform home inspections. Most are out of touch of the real world, and only listen to the boards of the states.

Contact Dan Bowers before making a commitment to Tommy Boy's school. Besides he'll return your phone call.
