I wouldn't be surprised to discover a "home inspector" was the instructor.

Me either.

During this last match we had with the Missouri Association of Realtors, I received a lot of email. With the exception of a few ASHI presidents who are convinced I should be dead, most of the messages were very supportive of the efforts that were being made to fight the licensing bill.

Intermingled were newsletters published by the Missouri Assoc of Realtors and Kansas Assoc of Realtors with articles...naming me and some of the things I had published in area newspapers....calling for my head. At the bottom of these newletters would be purchased advertising....yes....from many of the same inspectors who oppose licensing.

Some even pay dues and belong to the MAR and KAR as members....knowing their dues are being used to push an agenda that would take food from their pantry and reallocate it to the kitchen of the used house salesman. But most of them share the information they get with us to help us fight...and win. I appreciate them.

Then...there is the inspector who stands before the used house salesman with his hat in hand....begging for his next handout as he profusely apologizes for the misdeeds of these "other" inspectors. Finding him teaching such a class would not be surprising at all.

FYI: An inspector is an automatic member of MAR if he/she pay dues to obtain a lock box key/card in Missouri. They automatically put you on the membership roles even if you do not pay any seperate membership dues like the Realtors are forced to do.

I would personally thank all of you who have posted replies to this thread. I can now get to the article from the KCRAR and was able to print it out finally. I do believe that Mr. Bell is incorrect in his letter. I have not heard yet of any other news. I know one thing that is true. Most, if not all, Kansas realtors do not have a clue what is about to happen. The ones I have talked to are very quiet, and not saying anything. Perhaps, they have been told not to say anything, or do not know anything. I feel it is the calm before the storm. Something is lurking. I feel it. Perhaps, we will know more this week. I would like more time to work on my new report, as by July 1, 2008 may not be enough time to get it up and going. James, did the Missouri bill go down to defeat??? I haven't heard much from over there. I have been wondering if Kansas inspectors will be able to perform inspections in Missouri, and vice-versa. I guess that will be up to the new board.....????

It did. HB 2057 is no more...

But those who have been defeated this third time are smarting and vowing that their next effort will triumph.

I think they are underestimating our resolve, but we should never underestimate theirs.

JB - I don't stay up on these things, but I think you're wrong.

We're already hearing in Kansas, how the key stalwart group in KAREI and in ASHI stood and tried to fight off "Bad Legislation" AND if the rest of the inspectors would have got off the fence and tried to help ....................

Cuse me while I go throw up.

Bet you'll hear the same chatter in Missouri. How the stalwart group stood tall and proud and fought off ..............

I think Dirty Harry of St. Louis has had his cover..(excuse the expression)...blown.

He insists (in spite of his attendance and testimony at the hearing in favor of HB 2057) to his fellow ASHI members that he did not support the bill, but they know better....thanks to email.

Kansas Inspectors OR Missouri Inspectors inspecting in Kansas - Be Careful.

If you have E&O insurance, you had to file a copy of your inspection agreement with your respective company when you bought your insurance. Your agreement probably did not say your limit of liability was $10,000. They issued your insurance policy based on the information YOU provided.

If Luke Bell and the KAR fast forwards the Bill till 07/01/08 as they're trying, you may be giving your provider a way to shimmy out if any claims arise.
