Don't worry...after a few months, the schools start spitting them out like lemmings, all offering their Russel Ray $49 home inspections. Ask the guys in New York.

But the newbies will have a choice...pay a mentor or pay a school. Money enough to go around for every special interest willing to sponsor the bill.
Ok so one could either pay a supervising inspector "or" do the 80 hrs of classroom time? I can prove already that I have class room training. Do you think since it was done in Oklahoma my credits will be tossed out the door?

I think you will find a licensing board that is committed to see that no out of state competitor finds it easy to invade their market.

Remember what motivated them to lobby for the licensing bill in the first place.

Then remember that no matter what anyone says or does, today......after the public hearing, the grandfathering clause will be amended/deleted, as it was the previous two years.

I have seen bills in Missouri where the "'or" was changed to an "and" in the last hours of passing. It has happened to a lot of bills not just home inspection licensure. Most legislatures do this to keep the lobbyist donating to their campaigns. Sad but true.

Did you notice that the grandfathering provision requires membership in ASHI, NAHI, AND NACHI?

I guess that is by design. "Ooops. That is a mistake. I'll have to take that one out of there...." Parson will say. LOL

Still, that is not as bad as grandfathering everyone.

Billy -

When MAREI introduced a registration Bill 3 years ago to beat Parsons out of the chute, the Realtors, ASHI, and the legislature said MAKING someone belong to xxxxxxx wasn't fair for just using those 3 groups and they threw it out (at the last minute).

The Bill is geared toward MISSOURI inspectors. Guys in Kansas, Arkansas or Illinois will be just along for the ride.

A "Grandfather" clause will tout if YOURS is EQUAL to ours ..........

Oklahoma requires 55 hours of entry level education; Illinois I THINK only requires 60 hours of entry level education, etc. In short if we're not tic for tac most states DON'T grandfather or reciprocate.

If Illinois would not reciprocate with Missouri / Missouri would NOT reciprocate with Illinois. Check with Indiana or Wisconsin to see if they GRANDFATHER and RECIPROCATE with Illinois OR if an Illinois inspector has to jump thru more hoops ....... Then you'll have your answer.

Pay attention to Jim B and James B on this.

We've watched this since 2002 and as the Indians say:
"White dog talk out of both sides of face".

Here in WA, no prior classroom training will be accepted because the new SOP wasn't taught.

Next to nobody is going to pay $100 a drive along 50 times, the cost of school, the cost of E&O, and the cost of starting the business tools and whatever else just to enter the home inspection industry and be in the red for their first year to three years. Great for those who are grandfathered however only you will be left. Once your gone the profession will become a dead church in the state of MO if such requirements are put into place in my eyes.
Now your starting to understand how this works!
