Default New Illinois Carbon Monoxide Detector Law Takes Effect January 1

Carbon monoxide detectors will be required in homes around the state under a new law that takes effect on January 1, 2007.

Carbon monoxide detectors must be installed in any house (new or existing) that has an attached garage, a gas furnace, gas boiler, or a water heater that relies on fossil fuels.
