Get 'em, boys.
Interesting comments insure that the public / consumer have no idea what they are talking about. They do not know that inspections are not mandatory, agents are not recommending inspections in this market, insurance agents, appraisers and agents are exempt for the law. This is not about bad inspectors, it is about agents sealing the deal regardless of the inspection. What about the contractors whom work on the home? What about the sellers and their agents whom are committing fraud in hidding wood rot on a freshly painted home etc.? What about the fact that agents / brokers are offering free home checks in lieu of inspections? This article and comments truly shows how messed up this whole process is. Oh, and an Inspection is not required on a transaction in Kansas .....Not are building codes inforced. This law could have been easy similar to the pest inspection requirements. I will not give up my constitutional rights as an American and rights to privacy and client confidentaility. I will close instead. News......so far only 11 inspectors are signed up.

WOW watch out we may reduce the State budget all by ourselves.

That is what I have been saying for the last 6 months. My girlfriend use to work for a Missouri Representative, later a lobbyist and then she was a lobbyist herself but found it was too cut throat. She claims there is no way this law can be enforced with that many errors in it.

And now Senator David Wysong has resigned, stating "family reasons". This senator was chairman of the commerce and the ways and means committees, all who changed, re-wrote, voted, and implemented these laws. Why they left in the fifth amendment clause is beyond me. Heck, how do we really know what was voted on? What was talked about and what was actually signed by the then former governor, may be totally different. Our comments may have made an impact. Why really this senator resigned in the middle of his term, well, you make the call.

Now, I hear on the news this morning that more house reps, and perhaps more senators are resigning. Perhaps they see a large investigation, and are getting out before it starts. This whole thing runs deep.

Even as consumers, and voters of Kansas, we need to know how this happened, what was actually signed, and why none of these people on these committees are talking.

Someone explain to me why an inspector would need a crowbar and small mallet for an inspection. If you notice the inspector in the news report he had a bucket with both carrying it to the house. What gives?

Just like the North Carolina Bill, I think it would be eye-opening to see in Kansas & Missouri HOW MANY LEGISLATORS were GIVEN substantial $$$$ by the KCRAR, the KAR, real estate agents / brokerages, and trial attorneys in the past 2 years AND THEN - compare the $$$$$ to the way the legislators VOTED on an UN-WANTED, UN-NEEDED Bill pushed by commissioned sales people, attorneys & a handful of inspectors mostly belonging to KAREI / ASHI in Kansas and MAHI / ASHI in Missouri.

When are the lawmakers going to wake up to the fact that this is why ASHI wants and is pushing and "lobbying" for home inspection laws? They want the income from educational fees, membership fees, get more members to join their cause, so they can have more money to give lawmakers campaign funds. This is all about ASHI, and not their members or home buyers/clients. Wake up, America.
