I did not know that Texas has had home inspection laws for 23 years. And they are still working on them. Same thing will happen in Kansas. It will take years to write the SOP and rules by the board, with backing by special interests, such as RE, insurance agents, engineers, etc. This will be a mess in Kansas for years, and, since the Kansas budget has no money, inspectors may get away by doing what they have been doing on inspections for the past 30+ years. Let the industry police itself. With no enforcement, it will probably happen this way anyway. It may be a case where the RE may sue the inspector for a failed sale, because of the good inspection. Someone will test it in court. Opps, said that on another thread. Licensing is basic. Standards of Practice are basic. They stop us from going the extra mile for the consumer. Perhaps, that is what the KAR in Kansas wants. The large thumb is over my head.
