Please HELP Defeat SB 2234 and HB 1399

Hi to all,

Many members who have called me to discuss SB2234 seem to be confused about the bills reuirements, or are either still reading an old version or the old house bill (HB1399).

There are special interest groups who are in the business of marketing their services through legislation, and they have been attacking the home inspection industry for several years. SB 2234 and HB 1399 represent their efforts in Florida, this year.

A particular home inspection school lobbies heavily for legislation that require home inspectors to take its classes in order to be licensed. Your tax payers wind up footing the bill for enforcing a law that sends students into their classrooms and tuition funds into their bank accounts.

Instructors of a certain home inspection association are offered teaching jobs with this school in their state, if they are successful in helping to get the law passed.

You will recognize them in the bill offering courses in increments of 60 hours (120 hours, 180 hours, etc). This number was not picked arbitrarily. It is how this one particular school breaks down its courses and a law naming these numbers of hours mirror its curriculum and make it readily accessible.

These same courses offered by the same institution through hastily formed, make-believe home inspector "coalitions" were found in the failed bills defeated in Missouri, Kansas, New Hampshire and Washington this year alone.

Please do not allow your state to be fooled by these folks.

There are several flaws in this legislation that have already been pointed out to you by many others in the emails and telephone calls you have received. Any one of these is reason enough for a veto, by themselves.

Please add your state to the growing list of states that have become wise to the underhanded efforts of a few carpetbaggers looking for a way to get rich at your expense...and the expense of the taxpayers of your state.

Veto these bills, sir.
