Out of curiosity, has ASHI eliminated its non-licensed inspectors from its referral index? Not that it would make a difference, but I'm willing to bet that they are also taking a non-policing attitude toward this.

For me it is not about policing. It is about correct information being presented to those performing inspections. In this case it has not been.

Do you agree with Nick on his stance for licensing in the state of Tn. NOT about nachi policing, but performing inspections.

I believe they have a disclaimer about those listed may or may not comply with local jurisdiction.

I disagree with Nick's interpretation, actually, Brian. For what it is worth (which isn't much), my interpretation of your law says that anyone writing an inspection report tonight in TN must have a license. Anyone wishing to have a license who does not may be "grandfathered" as to certain qualifying criteria - but still must be licensed, none the less.

Its amazing what can happen when people read the law as written and speak clearly without mixing words.

It states clearly that if someone hasn't applied for licensing after June 2, 2006, that they are in violation of law if they are still operating their business as a home inspector, even with the grandfathering. The grandfathering doesn't give them extra time, it is just another way of becoming licensed.

That is correct.... Several inspectors have called me and said they are utilizing the COMPLAINT FORM that is furnished on the website.

This is the way to do it. Leave NACHI out of it. Let the state police its own laws.

I am not asking NACHI to Police anything.
I am asking NACHI to clean up the dead wood, so a potential client doesnt have to call 9 HI's to get one that is "Active".

I was assuming they were not "active" as they do not have to required licence to operate in this state.

I did not post the numbers to call attention to the non-licenced inspector for policing, rather to show the vast number of Inspectors that really are not out there as indicated on the Web Search.
