We should always carry a gun. Discretely. Don't be a victim. The police can't protect you. That's your responsibility.

I agree with James Braun on 1 thing - Hunting. After being a Marine Corps Scout-Sniper in Vietnam, deer hunting and everything similar became boring.

Then I tried it MC style - 1 bullet, 1 kill or no deer. That was OK but then 1 of my friends and I started hunting grizzly the same way - 1 bullet, 1 kill or no bear. Then 3 years ago we started bow-hunting grizzly with bows.

That was really thrilling for 2 years, then the edge wore off. Last year we came up with the ultimate - hunting grizzly with bowie knifes. You talk about getting the heart pumping - man this is the most.

Now back to the personal gun issue. Never be caught alone on a home inspection with an angry seller or Realtor, AND be unarmed. In the winter my personal weapon of choice is a sawed off 12" shotgun with 00. Really clears a path to the door and conceals well under bulky sweaters.

Summer time, I prefer a Glock 9mm in the burbs, or MAC-10 if in the hood. Gotta be prepared to let a realtor know they can't get rude.

Thanks Stu for reminding me of the good old days on the South Side of Columbia.

Dan, the south side has really slid since you lived here. The rolling gunfights through the 'burbs have gotten out of hand. These soccer moms all want to claim the area as their turf, so they take up the really good parking spots at Kohls, sometimes even parking over the lines. And the thug kids from the tennis team talking loudly and butting in line at Starbucks...That's why I'm always totin' a roscoe, packing heat.
