We beat our projections by over 200 inspections ... already. We certainly didn't expect things to be as busy as they have been this year after October/November/December of 2008, which was unusually slow. I am thinking we will end somewhere around 1100 inspections, which is pretty good for two full time inspectors and one that is less than part time.

I am watching, however, what is done with the discussion regarding tax credit extensions or increases. There was an article in the NYT (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/16/bu...home.html?_r=1) a couple days ago regarding this.

If an extension is granted or it is increased and expanded out to any home purchase, life will be very pleasant.

I would be interested, however, in the thoughts of some home inspectors concerning tax-credits, given that so many inspectors are obviously not too keen on government involvement. Perhaps they should ask if the person is only buying the house due to the tax credit, then reject the work on the grounds that it is "unnecessary government involvement".

Cheers.

It is difficult, presuming I am correct, to discuss the benefits of home inspection legislation when one likely is always going to be against "legislation" to begin with.

Given that I feel that one of the purposes of government is to protect consumers, I have always felt that legislation of some sort was necessary for home inspectors.

No he is OK with licensing for contractors to "protect the consumer", .....just not home inspectors. Go figure.

Yes... I see that.

Or, perhaps just "argument for argument's sake". You know, the one that always spoils parties.
