Default We set up a proctoring system for the State of Illinois today.

It will allow members who take our approved, online courses to register for taking the exams while being proctored.

Many thanks to Russ Myers for his work on this project.

InterNACHI is the largest administrator of inspection related exams and quizzes, close to 4 million exams and quizzes taken.

That's more than the rest of the entire industry combined.

Noel Zak flew in to pitch her "Independent Test".....

The way it is now we will be paying the NHIE $225.00 for each exam.

Charging for exams harms consumers as it is a disincentive for inspectors to take it multiple times. Part of any exam or quiz is to alert the taker to his/her areas of weakness, which in turn serves consumers. Our 4 million free exams and quizzes have helped many an inspector improve.

Maybe that is why Noel Zak flew in to New Hampshire so that they can try to salvage their money making NHIE!

Frank -

I'm sure this NHOE test you're talking about must be an INDEPENDENT group not affilliated with OR having ties to any association, cause I've heard that said many times.

Nick , what exactly will this do?
Are the courses now good for state credit?
Proctored means someone will over see.
How does this work and what is the benifit?

I am heavily involved in our legislative efforts but I do not post any information here because one of the ASHI legislative "Reps." told me that they gather a "LOT" of their information off of our BB. but ..........

Noel Zak flew in and Testified before the House of Representatives that the NHIE had NOTHING to do with ASHI.

"Luckily" I was called to testify right after her. I explained that since we live "In the age of instant information" that the members of the House could Google the 7-inspectors on the NHIE Board of Directors and see that they were not only ASHI inspectors but that they were the upper echelon of ASHI.

I also explained that the NHIE was a registered trade mark of ASHI and that this information was also available on the Internet.

To top it off I sent them an article written by Noel Zak that appeared in the ASHI Reporter where she clearly explains that in order to get their test passed into law that they have to give it a different name and can no longer call it the "ASHI Test."

I called it .... "In Her Own Words"

Our Legislators are a smart group of people .... They do not like it when someone flies in from another state to try to con them!

Today I am going to testify before the House and this will be my 63rd trip to our State Capitol in the last 24-months.

All of this is in the attempt to keep from having ASHI's legislative agenda from being rammed down our throats.

National Home Inspector Examination - The Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors wrote:The Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors (EBPHI) is an independent examination organization whose objective is to promote excellence and exemplary practice within the home inspection profession and to serve the public through its quality assurance efforts.

http://www.homeinspectionexam.org/po...ok/1EBPHI.html wrote:Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors®, Inc.

The Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors (EBPHI) is an independent, not-for-profit entity, founded in 1999 for the specific purpose of developing, maintaining and administering the National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE).

Administration of the NHIE is intended to insure that home inspection professionals meet basic knowledge and practice requirements.
Successful completion of the examination answers the needs of the public, government and home inspectors.

Certain states license these professionals and may require passing this examination as a licensing requirement.

The American Society of Home Inspectors, the largest organization representing the profession, requires passage of NHIE as a qualification for full Member status.

The National Home Inspector Examination has been developed and is maintained in accordance with accepted psychometric standards, and administered by the independent Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors.

My Opinion...

The NHIE was developed to provide additional streams of revenue from "Non-Members" as well as Members of their Organization.

Selling the Exam to legislators as an independent test is not valid.

Selling the Exam as representative of the Largest group of Home Inspectors also is not valid.
